Always cold

Is anybody else always cold? For me to be warm it needs to be a minimum of 25 degrees with no breeze, if there's even a moderate breeze I get goosebumps. The temperature has noticeably dropped where I live today and to be honest, the amount of time I spend worrying about winter and how cold and tense I'm going to be is starting to make me anxious. I wear as many layers as I can at home and I have a heated blanket - what else do perpetually cold people do to get through it? Or is this unusual?
For context I am not underweight as I know that might cause some people to be cold. , BMI of consistently 19-19.5 so healthy range. I did live in a tropical climate for a while but that was quite a long time ago now so I dont think I'm still in the acclimatisation phase!

@YingMei

I have a similar BMI and I am always cold too. I loved the sunshine and warmth this summer.

I walk three times a day, and everyday I attend either a yoga or dance class and I move a lot within my home throughout the day, but I still feel the cold. My hands and feet get cold. I wear thermal socks and wrist warmers and layer up with thermal vests. I wear wool cardigans and jumpers and thermal leggings under trousers. If I have to sit a lot at home I have a hot water bottle on my lap.

I drink hot water throughout the day and have homemade vegetable soup at lunch time.

I really think my body thermostat is set low.

I visited Jodrell Bank in January one year and there is body temperature scanner (not sure of correct name) which shows your body temperature in colour. No one I visited with could believe how many cold areas were flagged up on my body.

When it is cold and windy, my fingers turn white despite wearing thick sheepskin mittens. I am not looking forward to this winter at all.

Yes, I'm the same!! It's only September and I'm freezing already but I'm very underweight which I'd say definitely contributes. I'm absolutely dreading the winter as I can't afford to have the heating on much at all.

Thyroid check

Yep, this is totally me. Always has been.
They used to joke in my tutor group at school that it must be a warm day if I took my coat off. I was in my teens then, now mid 40's and I'm still always cold.

JestersTear · 18/09/2022 02:31

I'm the opposite in that I have a high BMI and am always cold.
I was fine, would be outside in t-shirts and not feel it until I reached puberty and then have been cold ever since!

Yes I’m always cold. I wear lots of layers, I like wearing joules wool socks under my boots in the winter time (hate cold feet). And when in the house I like hot water bottles with fluffy covers or warmies teddies (kind of like a wheat bag you put in the microwave but it’s a cute soft toy, really nice on cold hands). I’m sad that the weather is getting colder now.

Eat complex carbs, digestion warms you up. If your fingers/toes turn white look up Reynard's Syndrome, it's very obvious if it's that.

Me! I've always felt the cold!

It has to be really hot for me to feel it. If I feel warm others are boiling hot! I really feel the slightest drop in temperature. Like others I need warm air to be warm and once I'm cold it takes ages to warm up again.

I'm miserable when I'm cold. I always thought it might be because I'm so small but even after putting on weight I'm still cold. I take vitamins and eat well.

Our apartment is insulated but even so last winter I was freezing most of the time

RudsyFarmer · 18/09/2022 08:31

I’m reading this feeling so jealous 😤. I’m constantly too hot. Al already thinking what sandals could I wear across winter to keep cool without looking crazy. I work in an environment where all the women are constantly cold and I am a complete freak by comparison.

YingMei · 18/09/2022 14:40

@RudsyFarmer I am jealous of you! I'd love to be comfortable with lower temperatures.
Instead I'm currently wrapped in my electric blanket!

If you are getting iron checked get them to check ur thyroid as well. Thyroid issues can present as feeling cold or warm all the time, and being under OT overweight. As well as other signs.
I'm always chilly bought a primark oodie and I've had to buy a second as my husband is forever wearing mine.
I will say I recently developed thyroid issues but I've always been chilly person.
