Sorry yes it's extremely boring.

Anyone got a tried and tested method for cleaning a shower screen?

Bought a lime scale remover spray from B&Q which is rubbish.

Viakal on for 10 mins, rinse then scrape with a squeegee. In between cleans spray Method Daily Shower Cleaner.

If you're really committed then a window vacuum leaves it streak free.

The pink stuff.

I tried it on mine and it worked so well. Nothing else has even touched the limescale but this made a noticeable difference.

Or, spray white vinegar, leave for mins, then with washing up liquid (with a soft sponge) then rinse and squeegee or buff with a microfiber cloth

Rinse with hot water, spray with any limescale spray, leave for a hour then use one of those long handled washing up thingies where you put washing up liquid in the handle.
rinse again

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 16/09/2022 16:17

Equal parts white vinegar and washing up liquid

Tipsymctipsy · 16/09/2022 16:17

Another one for the pink stuff, amazing!

DancingBudgie · 16/09/2022 16:21

I use cream cleanser on the back of an old dish sponge, then rinse off with the shower head.
I usually do it while I'm showering.
It only takes a couple of minutes to do the entire glass cubicle.

We karcher the screen after every shower to remove water so stops it getting bad. We have a very hard water area

Sgtmajormummy · 16/09/2022 16:29

A long soak then a scrub with Viakal, Pink Stuff, Bar Keeper’s Friend in that order of potency.
And smeared-on Johnson’s Baby Shampoo before you use a squeegee if you don’t like strong smells.

I like Viakal for limescale removal when it builds up on the taps. I use Flash's Spray Wipe Done generally in my bathroom, works fine.

Whatever cleaner you end up using, the key thing is not letting it get to a state that is more difficult to clean. I wipe the water off with a squeegee every time but I spray with the Flash every few showers to ensure there's no build up. (DH and DS don't but because I keep on top of it, it doesn't get too bad.) Like DancingBudgie, I clean it while I'm still in there, it's so easy to keep it ticking over.

Pink stuff recommenders - do you mean the paste or the spray please?

42isthemeaning · 16/09/2022 17:22

What is the pink stuff, please?

AllBlocChain · 16/09/2022 17:24

Cif, although I scrape the water off after shower which is much easier than cleaning off the build up. Makes me feel like a proper grown up for taking a preemptive measure 😆

lavenderlou · 16/09/2022 17:25

HG professional limescale remover is the only thing I have found that removes stubborn limescale. Works brilliantly. Then make sure you use a squeegee after every shower (I also use a daily shower spray). Then once a week clean with a spray cleaner. Rinse off well, squeegee and then buff with a dry, soft cloth.

ThickCutSteakChips · 16/09/2022 17:26

Vinegar - it's by far the best, it stinks while you are doing it but it does the job so well and is so satisfying.

You can use it neat or you can also make a cleaner with equal parts vinegar and water and a squirt of washing up liquid (I also put some lemon essential oil for fragrance). Its the best cleaner ever!

And then buy a squeegy off Amazon and use that after every shower too.

ThickCutSteakChips · 16/09/2022 17:27

I can't get on with 'cleaning pastes' at all, and that includes home made pastes made with bicarb. I just find it impossible to get rid of all the residue and also find dried on bits in the nooks and crannies.

SingingSands · 16/09/2022 17:28

I just use a wet microfibre cloth to wash it, rubbing off any soap scum, then polish it dry with a glass cleaning cloth. Comes up sparkling and no messing around with products.

AreYouAFeminist · 16/09/2022 17:33

Once you get it clean, you need to keep on top of it so it doesn't build up again.
I use a vinegar spray after every shower, squeegee it all off and then dry the glass with a dry face cloth. Keeps it sparkling! 🌟

KnickerlessParsons · 16/09/2022 17:39

Wire wool is easiest and quickest and it doesn't scratch the glass.
