Can't get clotted cream but have mascarpone. It'll work fine on a cream scone, won't it? They taste exactly the same to me!

Mascarpone is delicious on a scone.

I’ve never quite worked out the difference. They’re both delicious.

Windbeneathmybingowings · 16/09/2022 15:39

I put it in cakes all the time

Dartmoorcheffy · 16/09/2022 15:40

It will be fine.

IroningThrone · 16/09/2022 15:43

Thank you! That's what I thought but the friend I'm with is pulling faces over it. 🤔🤣 She's a fussy bugger though.

I thought mascarpone is cheese ?

It will be delicious.
I often use Philadelphia with jam on a scone.. That's nice too( not cheesy at all)

They're very different (to me) but both lovely on a scone. Clotted cream is traditional, so some people would say it's 'wrong'.

Plump82 · 16/09/2022 19:51

Did exactly this, this week when I couldn't get clotted cream.
