Can I share some good news, which I can't share yet IRL?

I GOT THE JOB!! 🥳

After 20 years doing the same job, I took a huge leap and applied for an internal role at my firm two weeks ago. Had first interview last Thursday, second interview on Tuesday, and was offered the role at 4pm yesterday.

I am absolutely delighted with myself. I've stayed in my comfort zone for SO long, knowing I could do better but being too scared to take the leap. I work in a lovely close knit team, which although is great, I can definitely see I've held myself back by not wanting to leave them. I'm a yes person and never want to upset the status quo, but this year has thrown up some big life moments and I just thought "if you don't apply for this, what will you do instead?".

I'm not allowed to tell my current team until next week and I've phoned my parents who are out 😄 so I wanted to share my good news!

Does anyone else want to share their good news today?

@imnotapensioneryet this is fantastic - you did it! Mortgages really do feel never-ending so it's nice to hear when one finally does!

@RobertsRadio that made me chuckle, we did this during lockdown and it was hilarious! "Ooh, look, meringue from 2015, is it still edible?!"

That's great news - congratulations! Will you get a nice pay rise?

SingingSands · 16/09/2022 16:40

@ICanHideButICantRun yes, I'm going up a job family and also going from 4 days to 5 so I'm pretty sure they'll have to give me a rise - although nobody could give me a figure yesterday as they "had to wait until X was back in the office from holiday". I have a figure in mind that I'd be happy with, hoping it matches what they offer. If it doesn't, I'll have to summon my new-found confidence and politely request it!

I was in your exact position this year and started my new role 3 months ago. It’s had its ups and downs but more ups and is getting better and better. I’ve got lots of training to do over the next two years which is daunting but exciting too.
I miss my old colleagues as 15 years is a long time to work with people but my new colleagues are equally as nice.
Shout it from the roof tops when you are able to and be very proud of yourself. Oh and stand your ground on your salary 😀

Yay, well done you. That's great. My news is that I've lost 30lbs! I feel too embarrassed to tell anyone in real life as that would mean admitting I had that much (and more) to lose. But I'm really pleased. Another 30 to go though.

That is absolutely amazing 🤩, congratulations 🎉

Well done op, for having the courage to apply, and for getting the job, brilliant news.
No good news, no bad news for me, just a nice peaceful day off with dh xx
