Paramedics - What did Dad sign?

I wonder if someone can help me. I called 999 and paramedics came to my dad late in the evening.
He had a blood pressure reading that was really low. The paramedics advised to see GP in the morning even though Dad was really dizzy. Before they left, they got Dad to write his signature on a tablet. We do not know what he signed and the paramedics did not tell us. Does anyone know what Dad signed?
I would really appreciate replies. Has anyone else experience of not being admitted when paramedics attended and did they sign anything?

It's probably the standard discharge notice

I had an ambulance called for me once, and I signed something to say that I was satisfied that I didn't need conveying to the hospital. They would have preferred to take me, but I declined, so that is possibly why I had to sign. It was quite a while ago though so it was actual paperwork.

Some trusts it will only be a refusal of treatment or transports that need signing.
Other trusts will insist on patients signing for the shared decision making (arranging to attend GP).

Thank you. Paper records are longer used, are they? Do paramedics now use tablets only? Dad was not advised to go to hospital sadly the outcome was not good.

It would have been a discharge note, they do usually give you a print out too though. Hope you're dad is feeling better x

Thank you cashmerecow. Admission was not really spoken about in a serious way, they advised to see GP in the morning. They didn't give us a copy. I am worried it may have been a refusal to admit form.

Generally if BP is low they take you in. I've had low BP in the past and when it hadn't improved while the paramedics were there, I was taken in.

In my Trust it's to say the patient has declined A&E. This may be implied if they consent to a GP referral.

PleaseStopExplaining · 16/09/2022 08:06

When I had the paramedics they and I agreed I didn’t need to go to A&E but did need to speak to my GP. They called my GP to give her the readings they’d got and she called me back straight away. But they still wanted me to sign some form of acknowledgement of what had been discussed.

What was the outcome of you do not mind me asking

Lottie2shoes · 16/09/2022 09:52

*if

QuebecBagnet · 16/09/2022 09:55

I’d be suspicious it was a signature to say he’d declined to go to hospital

Notjusta · 16/09/2022 09:59

Just contact PALS at the ambulance service and ask them to look into it for you. Or write a formal complaint letter. All the answers here will basically be speculating, the only people who know for certain are the ambulance service. You won't be showing your hand (assuming your considering legal action) by asking them about it.

My DM refused to go in an ambulance, the paramedics informed her she might die, and she signed to say she had refused treatment, but this seems to be different from your DF.
