IVF - Embryo transfer date on same day as Covid jab? Immune response?

I have been invited to have my Covid and flu jabs by my GP surgery. However, the clinic date they are running it will be around the day (if not THE day) that I will be having an embryo transfer.

Am I right to be considering the immune response in this situation in relation to implantation?

I have asthma and allergies too so already have eosinophil count slightly above the normal range as it is.

(I know this is quite a niche thread but hopefully in Chat it will reach someone who knows!) Thank you Smile

I’d get a private flu jab in a few weeks time personally if there aren’t any catch-up clinics offered by your GP. As for Covid jabs, there are loads of places offering them round here on so many dates - I’d delay that one too. I’m very pro-vaccination but wouldn’t take any risk with my embryo transfer.

Same as pp, I wouldn’t have had any other medication or medical treatments around the time of my embryo transfer that could have impacted the process.

Can you call your ivf clinic and ask them?

IVF is such a precarious process. I have had 8 rounds and there is no way I would do this. I think it is a bad idea to do anything that might throw your body off balance. Though, I did get pleurisy from one of my jabs. I have not had a jab and been unaffected.

I don’t think stimulating the immune system at the time of embryo transfer is a good idea, implantation is a process that requires slight dampening of the immune response.

Thank you all for confirming my thoughts.

Yes, I am totally pro-vax (and can recommend the book ‘Vaxxers’!), but you are right, there will be other clinics and opportunities.

Strangely my first three jabs all significantly shortened my cycle (I know for many others it lengthened theirs), so yes, IVF is not a time to be having my booster.

Thanks all 😊

No need for private! You can book with a chemist like Boots and get it free if you’re eligible which you clearly are

Yes this is a good point. I’ll leave it for now then. Thanks all 😊

Best of luck with your procedure!

Postpone, then wait for your BFP, then take it from there. Burgundy wine is good the night before and morning of transfer. Good luck.
