Who looks after your kids when you’re ill?

I’ve got all three children today but I feel awful. I was up in the night but hadn’t really registered how crap I felt until the cold light of day.

DH offered to stay at home but it didn’t feel like I could take him up on it (it was a genuine offer but like a lot of blokes he is convinced his particular contribution at work is absolutely vital to the entire world continuing to spin).

Not to mention that I’m fiercely independent and completely fail at recognising how and when I need to ask for help.

So just that really, if you don’t have any childcare on a day and feel like crap, what do you do?

Hahaha. Me. Even when I had covid I was up all night with my toddler who also had it really badly. Didn't get 2 consecutive hours sleep the whole time I was sick.

I’ve got 6 month old twins, I’ve barely had two consecutive hours of sleep in 6 months 😉

@W0tnow thank you! Twin parents love to tell you it’s gets easier, which is really nice to hear, but “it gets brilliant” is actually the best thing I’ve heard. That’s what I want. Everyone is all blah blah blah they’re a blessing…. I’m waiting to feel that way! Illness aside, I’m definitely confused how having two babies simultaneously is a blessing.

@Betty98 A house of teenagers is (mostly) pretty good! They all get along most of the time and while their behaviour has been typical for teenagers, I can say hand on heart that they really haven’t given me any real grief. I get sad thinking of my biggest one going away to university. One of my favourite periods was when I had 2 yo twins and a 3 and a half year old. Lots of cuddles and laughs. You’ll think me mad but when my youngest girl finally stopped waking in the night for a feed I missed it!

I honestly don’t remember the first 6 months after the twins were born, it was such a blur, though I do remember having an awful flu!
