Accessible queue for Queen’s lying in?

I’m 37 weeks pregnant with SPD. Would I be permitted in the accessible queue? Anyone know how that timed entry and wait works? I’d quite like to pay my respects but literally can’t stand or walk much longer than 20 minutes at a stretch these days, due to SPD and general late pregnancy swelling, Braxton Hicks, etc. I would also want to bring my 3 yo with me if that’s permitted?

Sorry to be rude but I think you'd be mad, 37 weeks pregnant with spd and a 3 year old 😱

autienotnaughty · 15/09/2022 05:54

Sounds like it's not the place for you! I would not take a three year old.

begoniagal3 · 15/09/2022 05:56

3 yo is quite well behaved and interested in history! We live not far from the city centre so it’s not a massive journey, otherwise I’d never dream it!

but it is quite historic and I’d like to pay my respects. I’d read about the accessible queue but don’t want to take advantage (though I reckon if I am permitted to take a seat on the bus, I would qualify for the accessible queue as well? I am so massively pregnant that elderly people with sticks have started giving up their seats and holding doors open for me 🫣)

Also, 3 yo is nearly 4, is it still too much at that age you reckon? I wouldn’t dare the “regular” queue, but read the accessible queue gives a timed entry (presumably with less waiting/standing!)

Hello @begoniagal3 : I think you would

I’ve just come back from HMQ LIS: there was a lady using a cane on front of me with her adult daughter

they said they went by Tate Britain to get a specific armband and join the queue

from there it was 2- 2.5 hours for them (and maybe less than a mile to walk?)

I think you should find another adult to accompany you if you can - which would help with your child. The regular queue was 9 hours so I think friends/family would bite your hand off

i saw some children tonight but none as young as yours - babies in carriers and over 8s, but that was the regular queue : if you think your LO can handle it I think you’d be fine: maybe Pull ups as it’s portaloos only (not sure re accessible facilities as it’s a completely separate route)

Would also take a 4 year old if that meant accessible queue.
Perhaps those who went in with kids can share their experience, which may be helpful.

It’s not a queue for those with children, it’s a queue for those who physically cannot manage the main queue: I.e. mobility impairments/medical issues: taking able bodied kids & parents in makes it longer & harder for those who NEED accessibility

Children were in the main queue with parents , & tbh the queue is a few steps then stop ad infinitum so the walking is no issue. I think it can sometimes be 1 hour or so to toilet breaks but what parents were doing was ducking out for a break/sit down with kids and the people before/after them in the queue hold their spot

There is another thread about this in AIBU with some useful information on.

Will I be allowed to join the accessible queuing system? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/4633314-will-i-be-allowed-to-join-the-accessible-queuing-system

@weddingDecliner lives locally and has been checking with the control point all the questions you might have on the above thread. Suggest you join it.

Hi, please could you let us know if you were successful in joining the accessible route queue? My friend is quite heavily pregnant with SPD and we both really want to go but obviously the normal queue is not an option! Thanks!

Mellode · 15/09/2022 12:25

Super keen to hear if you are successful, I am anaemic but now nearing third trimester and get considerably dizzy due to low iron levels. Going to try the accessibility que tomorrow morning.

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 15/09/2022 12:37

You'd be fine to go in the accessible queue but it's obviously not for able bodied parents and children who cba to wait!

Londonbabyland · 15/09/2022 18:52

@BlooberryBiskits of course re needs.
Good to hear kids in queue was actually not so bad.
