Please don't worry Flowers

Of course stress during pregnancy is best avoided where possible, but millions of women throughout history have been stuck enduring dreadfully stressful situations and carried pregnancies to term at the same time. Premature labour is caused by all sorts of things that we have no control over and have nothing to do with the mother's circumstances.

Unless you're showing signs of labour (in which case get to hospital) then honestly try not to think of premature labour. I know that's harder said than done but be kind to yourself and focus on whatever you need to do to get through this stress. I'm sure your baby is tucked up safe and sound inside your tummy.

No problem. I really hope you can drift off and get some rest. Hopefully things will feel slightly easier in the morning as they often do.

No, the whole terminal diagnosis and death of a parent between 5 and 8 months didn’t.

Dinnertime22 · 15/09/2022 06:05

I have had two prem births and they were not linked to stress. I hope you haveanaged to get some rest.

GiantTortoise · 15/09/2022 06:06

No. I was very stressed on a busy project at work when I was heavily pregnant, my blood pressure (which had always been fine) started to creep up, but I did not go into labour until 41 weeks. Hope you're ok OP.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/09/2022 06:20

No such luck. I was called as a witness in a case of a murderer at 8 months pregnant.

DD was three sodding weeks late.

Idontknowwhatto · 15/09/2022 07:03

I was under a lot of stress and u went into labour at just over 36 weeks. I do suspect I had some kind of water infection though.

tithead22 · 15/09/2022 07:06

My mum got ill when I was 29 weeks, stayed in hospital for weeks, died, I planned and hosted the funeral but didn’t go in to labour until a week after at 39+2.

abyssofwoah · 15/09/2022 07:08

Not for me. Very stressful event at 7 months and the baby still stayed in until eviction at two weeks over. Hope you are ok Flowers

DD was a week early following a huge argument with DH (who wasn’t DH at the time) and an extremely stressful unplanned pregnancy. She was tiny -5 1/2lb- . I’m convinced she was so small because of the stress. She’s perfect now, but DS is academically gifted and DD is fairly average, and I’ll always wonder if the stress affected her neurological development. She’s still the best thing that ever happened to me.

I had a very stressful and emotional time and it didn't cause Prem labour

Get lots of rest and do all the nice things you can to relax x
