Energy costs and potatoes

A question from on of my DC that I cannot answer: can anyone advise please?

'If we set up potato lamps instead of turning the lights on in the evening, would the potatoes still be ok to eat the next day, and if so would this be free electricity? '

I've never tried eating them so don't know if the potatoes would still be good to eat, but we do eat potatoes a lot in the winter so have a good supply and we do have several of the light kits from years ago. Does anyone know if this would work?

This is all theoretical by the way. I m not developing it as a plan!

Anyone? I know that using a potato as a battery uses the acid in the potato, but does it render it inedible?
Thanks

Someone in your household needs to volunteer as Guinea pig.

www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/index.php?topic=47440.0 had no idea what you are talking about as never heard of a potato light so I googled it.

Well, if the potato is used to generate light
➡️ being exposed to light makes a potato turn green
➡️ the green parts of the potato IS poisonous

⛔ not fit for human consumption!

However, this should be followed up by an experiment, to proof scientifically it this hypothesis is right/ wrong. 😉
