That’s it really. It’s quite a big move, back closer to my hometown to a bigger house, nicer house, as we work from home a lot I was rarely going into the city anyway, just living on the suburb in an average street. Mortgage is much higher (300 more a month). Just suddenly want to stay where I am and I know it’s shitty, anyone else been in this position?!

When I say hometown it’s quite remote, lots of walking and pubs sort of place

I think getting cold feet is natural - but remember you wanted to move for a reason, probably spent a while viewing and choosing before offering on this house.

you will have chosen the location for a reason too.

Think back to the day your offer was accepted - did you feel regret then? If no, then this is simple cold feet.

Normal to feel wobbly - moving house is one of the most stressful thing to do

Yes I liked the house a lot, going from terrace to detached and a proper garden. Dishwasher, more space etc.

But I worry the area is soooo different. It’s quiet, walkers and pubs no coffee shops close by etc. I’m also worried I won’t meet anyone!

I live in a built up area. Coffee shops and the like. Still never talk to anyone. People seem to keep their heads down these days.

Congrats on the new house.

Going from a terrace to a detached a good move in my view. We moved house on this day last year to a detached house. I wasn’t sure because I don’t like change but within two weeks of being in our new home I knew it was the best move we could have made. A year on I love the house and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Being detached makes you feel so much more relaxed in your home. You don’t have to worry about disturbing neighbours or them disturbing you. We live in a quiet village and see the same people every day walking their dogs when we’re doing the school run and nearly everyone says good morning and smiles. Whatever you decide OP, I wish you luck.🙂

Yes. I felt the same way when I bought my house. I still think I should have chosen the other one but sometimes you just have to stop second guessing and stick to what you planned to do. As long as you are not overextending yourself on the mortgage it will all work out in the long run.
