Freelancing while being FT employed.

My previous employer has offered me some freelance work. There is no conflict of interests, so my current company should be OK with it. (I've read that as it's completely unrelated and I'm not becoming someone's employee I don't even have to tell my current company, but that it's good practice). The other question is, I pay taxes (high earner), and for the freelancing gig I'd only need to pay taxes on the profits... So the question is, could I claim broadband, electricity, heating, mobile, and a new laptop as part of the expenses? Tia!

Speak to your accountant. Equipment like a laptop, definitely. Things like broadband and phone etc may need to be part-expensed rather than fully.

Would I need an accountant for this? I do t think I'd be making more than £300/500 pcm
