Weirdest thing you've had for breakfast

I've had a sleepless night..woke up had my tea and didn't want the usual...had chicken and rice and I thought what a weird craving...not sure if it's because we've been meat free for the past week but there you go...what's the weirdest thing or not the usual thing you've had for breakfast?

Ps is anyone else feeling cold this morning? It woke my 1 year old up at around 5.30am..she decided she didn't want to sleep in her cot so ended up sleeping in bed with me...

Pate and red wine.
In my defence, I was playing golf in France and it was all there was on offer

I was going to say i don't think anything would be really odd anymore, but pate and wine sure is!

I tend to have rice egg and veg, rice and curry, soups, noodles etc for breakfast everyday which I guess people would find very weird!

TheDoorIsOpen · 14/09/2022 09:51

On a trip to Vietnam, had noodles, chips and boiled eggs for breakfast. It was pretty good!

AmandaHoldensLips · 14/09/2022 09:52

Boiled cactus.
I was in Mexico and yes, it was horrible.

heartbroken22 · 14/09/2022 09:54

@Cryingatwork is that to tackle food waste? That might be a good idea.

@TheDoorIsOpen yeah I'm thinking I'd rather prefer a warm breakfast as opposed to cold cereal.

Well, I'm currently having a creamy lemony yellow squash soup with toast...which was dinner on Sunday, and lunch Monday and yesterday, so I just felt like I'd eat it now and be done with it (it's lovely though), so could have something different for lunch.

MissAmbrosia · 14/09/2022 09:57

Liver and eggs with prosecco, at the market in Barcelona. It was delicious.

I am not that fond of breakfast foods so usually have leftovers. Yesterday I had chicken noodle soup with lots of chilli flakes. Based on tonight's meal tomorrow with be prawn korma. When I worked mostly in the office people would laugh at my breakfasts, but it would keep me going and I rarely eat lunch on those sort of days.

When I'm in Malaysia I like roti canai for breakfast, which is paratha and vegetable and lentil curry. It was weird to me at first but normal out there.

The worst, as in I know it's wrong but do it anyway, is leftover pavlova the morning after my birthday. I'm lactose intolerant but love pavlova so most birthdays I just have the pleasure of it and put up with the consequences.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 14/09/2022 10:01

I have also been known to give my older DS a massive slice of Victoria sponge for breakfast. He has sensory issues and learning difficulties and a VERY restricted diet and sometimes that's the only thing he will eat. If I have had a good week it is a packet sponge I make myself with added ground almonds in it, but sometimes it's not. Blush (He's under a dietician who is aware before I get jumped on for shocking parenting.) Grin

Oh that sounds amazing (the roti canal and the pavlova).

Just how I was brought up the thought of a sugary breakfast like cereal is something I'd rather have for lunch instead of first thing.

MintyChipton · 14/09/2022 10:06

The only traditional breakfast foods I like are pretty unhealthy to eat every day pastries, pancakes, bacon and hash browns, sugar puffs, toast thick with butter and marmite...
So I tend to eat left overs or soup, although not first thing, around 10.

ArseyDarcie · 14/09/2022 10:07

I had carrot cake today 🤷‍♀️

Goldbar · 14/09/2022 10:13

I frequently have leftovers for breakfast. I don't like porridge and don't always have time to cook eggs. Most quick breakfast foods are somewhat lacking in nutritional value... better just to eat a proper meal.

krazipan · 14/09/2022 10:56

I had a curried sausage roll this morning

PuttingDownRoots · 14/09/2022 11:01

My favourite Army ration Park breakfast used to be the Pasta one. It was so much nicer than the ones with baked beans (which sort of glowed orange).

PleaseYourselfandEatTheCrusts · 14/09/2022 15:19

I had Flapjack once.

A jacket potato

Chestnuts

Steak and red wine in France. But I hadn’t actually been to bed so it probably doesn’t count!

purplecorkheart · 14/09/2022 15:40

Fish and Chips. I was staying with friends and the plan had been fish and chips for dinner the night before. We had had a big lunch though so no one was hungry.
Woke up the following morning to the smell of fish and chips, the prep had been done the day before so it was the easiest thing to make per the chef!
