I have never heard of Plane Finder - must look that up!

Showing for me on FR24 now. And absolutely nothing to do with this flight, but I had never realised how far away Glasgow Prestwick was from Glasgow.

I can’t believe so many people want to know the exact location of the Queen’s dead body. What’s wrong with you all? Nothing worth watching on telly?

The flight is currently being tracked by 322k people.

Can someone do a screenshot please??

I can only speak for myself but I'm a bit of a plane spotter (gold membership on FR✈️🤓) and track all sorts of planes all of the time for various reasons. This is a historical flight so I'm following it rather than any other I might choose to track. 🤷

GreatBigExpectations · 13/09/2022 17:58

Currently south of Dumfries.

It's on ADS-B Exchange, try this link:

Does anyone know what the designation “eyelash” means? there is a large plane heading north east over st Neots with this designation, no other info and no path back to point of origin. Not seen that before.

ADS-B exchange is showing it as a helicopter down at below 1000 feet...

Thank you @notimagain

Dodie66 · 13/09/2022 18:45

It’s nnow heading south near Reading

MsJuniper · 13/09/2022 18:47

It looks like it's going to fly over Windsor Castle.

MsJuniper · 13/09/2022 18:48

Oh no turned now. That would have been nice.

Makes sense. I've been tracking as I live near the original route it was showing on FR and was going to go out to pay my respects... but then it started going off track!

OnlyEverAutumn · 13/09/2022 18:51

@MsJuniper doesn’t it strike you as weird that they built Windsor Castle under Heathrow’s flight path? 🤷‍♀️

🤣 That made me chuckle, thank you

daisybrown37 · 13/09/2022 18:56

Just saw the plane out my window

YesItsMeIDontCare · 13/09/2022 18:56

Does anyone here know why the plane took the route it did?

LadyEloise1 · 13/09/2022 19:05

Just a week ago Liz Truss flew up and met the Queen in Balmoral and now she awaits the arrival of the Queen's remains at RAF Northholt. Sad

It looks like a fairly normal sort route you'd take from northern UK to one of the London airports.

There was a bit of a dog leg around Manchester which may have been to feed it into the start point one of the standard arrivals into the London control area from the north west. That brings aircraft over Birmingham and then south towards the main London North western hold (based on a GPS waypoint/radio beacon at Bovingdon, near Hemel Hempstead)

..At some point prior to getting to Bovingdon it then looks like ATC intervened , as you'd expect, and positioned the flight under radar control for the landing at Northolt. Northolt was set up for a landing to the east, hence the fly past to the North of Windsor in the latter stages of flight.

HTH
