It's ivy.

It is indeed ivy, as CdB says - great for pollinators in the autumn (and good for cutting too, looks great in autumn arrangements - we have lots of it!).

It’s great for birds too. The flowers will eventually ripen to berries and are a godsend for birds early in the year when there’s not much around.

I cut some at Christmas to make a wreath for the door.

Lucky you.

It doesn't have the typical look that new shoots of ivy has because it's become arborescent, ie tree-like. You might need to trim it every spring to keep it in check as it can get rather over-enthusiastic. It does have its plus points as PPs have said, pollinators appreciate the flowers, birds appreciate the berries and the cover, butterflies such as the holly blue use it as a caterpillar food source. Downside is it does need keeping in line or it will outgrow the space available.

Horrible, looks huge, will take over everything and kill it off and really dark. I'd get rid as much as you can - really not easy to do and will constantly come back though. Then plant some nice, pretty flowers and other bee and bird friendly things.

Doesn't cause us any problems or go rampant here. We do have a good-sized garden, but it stays on the fences and the odd bit that has been damaged while replacing fence panels has died well enough, so chopping it off at the base would be easy if needed to clear a bit.

Not a plant to panic about, enjoy its benefits for the environment.
