Are your teenagers's bedrooms decorated/ themed?

Totally not into interior design and I have no taste, our house is thrown together with no pictures or whatever up except in DD's room. DS13's room needs some new furniture and fittings and I have no idea where to start. Do teenagers have a "theme" to their room? Colour scheme? That kind of thing? At the moment it's still in the carpet and pile of Lego stage.

And there's a spelling mistake in the title. Please ignore it!

For furniture I actually created a scale drawing of her room and potential furniture options and we tried out different furniture shapes, sizes and placement until we were agreed how the room would be laid out.

For decoration, my daughter created a Pinterest board of room ideas that she liked and we picked out common elements of the ideas that she liked and worked with those.

(So for her she liked “indie aesthetic” and common elements we picked out were white walls, green rug, plants, indie flyers on walks, fake ivy, led lights, cow print).

So it’s not an exact match of any photo on Pinterest but her own interpretation of it.

She had a really strong sense of what she liked and didn’t like though. Would your children collect some ideas of what they like on Pinterest? Can be good to get inspiration or decide what you definitely don’t like.

But if he’s he’s not bothered I’d keep it really simple. White or neural walls and flooring, then he can bring his taste with pictures and posters.
