If calorie counting is not your thing…

How do you monitor your intake and lose weight?

Calorie counting is triggering for me and I get really obsessive to an unhealthy point, but I feel I need some kind of record or benchmark to work against to make sure I’m doing ‘ok’.

Any tips? 🤔

The only sustainable approach for me I learned from the Mumsnet Low Carb Bootcamp threads.

The first post in each thread contains a link to 'the spreadsheet' which sets out how it works, with lots of additional background information and resources.

There are lots of very supportive and knowledgable people on the thread who between then can answer any questions that might crop up.

Newbies very welcome. Hope to see you in that thread.

I've lost a ton of weight through fasting.
Massively cut down food in mouth.
Massively reduced arse and waist.

I weigh myself, definitely too often, and of course I can tell I'm gaining or losing weight from how clothes fit.

Measure carb portions. Meals based around veg and lean protein. Two snacks a day.

Heavy weights and lots of protein. Throw away the scales and look at how your clothes fit.

Stuff that promises half a stone loss in 2 weeks by drastically cutting calories and hard cardio is fine on the scales but the first thing that goes is water followed by muscle mass and then you’ll just put it back on. Aim to build muscle and ignore any fad diets like Weight Watchers.
