Recommendations for Packing Cubes

We go away next week, and I've been putting off buying packing cubes so far because some reviews are great and others say the zips are really flimsy and break! So I wondered if anybody had recommendations for ones they've used a couple of times and had success with?

We're only taking one medium-sized case and one hand luggage case between the three of us. DP packs incredibly lightly and we're travelling to a family apartment with washing machine so will be able to wash and dry whilst there, but I still want to maximise the space in the case, and also pack things in separate cubes for each of us.

Though the most important part I'm looking for is a bundle that includes some smaller cubes or pouches I can keep use in my backpack. DS is just toilet training, so I need to pack plenty of leggings and underpants in case of any accidents, and get myself in a whizz when I'm digging around the bag looking for something, so ideally I'd like to be able to separate his clothes/activities for the flight/snacks into separate compartments for ease.

Thank you ❤️

I know it's not what you want to hear but the whole concept of packing cubes baffles me.

It's like instagrammers have convinced us that something pointless is now an essential.

The best way to back is to keep the decent clothes flat/folded well. It's far easier to achieve this and save space if you use things like knickers and socks to tuck in small spaces.

Waits to be told I'm wrong...

I think I actually agree with you, @Cuck00soup, and normally and normally I'm a very efficient packer. It was more the need for wanting my hand luggage organised that led me down the rabbit hole.

Maybe I just need to get a couple of zip pouches for leggings and underpants and snacks, and leave it at that, and pack my suitcase as I normally would.

We have a few sets of these and they've held up to being used and washed many times.

They're invaluable for people like me who don't unpack on holiday. Everything stays neatly organised in my bag or case.

Thank you so much. That's one of the sets I'd been looking at. The measurements seem quite large, would any of the cubes fit into a hand luggage bag? It's fine if not, because the zip pouches would, and I could then use the larger ones in the case.

I bought a couple of cube sets from Amazon; they definitely make packing so much easier even if just using an overnight bag.
I wish I had them years ago!

No, you're not wrong necessarily @Cuck00soup - I've always folded and crammed, but I find that packing cubes also 'compress' everything and hold all the items tightly, so they move about less and are less creased.

I bought a set of Amazon Basics cubes a few years ago, which are in various sizes, and they have held up well. They are plain black, with a small black and white logo in one corner.

I used to fly every two weeks and always used my packing cubes. They are great. You don't have to unpack. I just chuck the cubes in the wardrobe and take clothes out of them. One for PJs and knickers and socks, one for t shirts and one for trousers, swimming costumes etc. I think I have this set.

I love paling cubes, especially when there are 4 of us. Unpacking is a breeze.

However if you keep hold of nice dust bags or good quality plastic zip bags eg pillow packaging et. then you can build up a good set. Mine are a mosh mash of packing cube sets and shoe bags etc that I've accosted over the years.

They are also great in a hand luggage bag as if security wants to look in your case you don't have loose knickers flying around.

Hahahaha, this is me! I dropped a pair of knickers last time! 😂

I use from muji

They are great. I can keep my stuff and Ds separate, and use one for dirty things.

Thank you so much for the recommendations. I'm going to get some ordered today. I like the idea that they compress the clothes a little more than ordinary packing would. I also like the thought of the clothes being protected from the shoes, too.

Good shout on the zip bags that clothes deliveries come in, too! I actually do have some bags that my gym wear comes in that I kept hold of, with no idea what to use them for, so I'm going to dig those out.
