Would it be ok to have a plain brioche instead of the sandwich in a packed lunch?
bery very fussy 5 year old and also has some difficulties eating that I'm trying to work out the cause for atm

would a brioche, some strawberries, a cheddar stick, a smoothie and a frube be an ok lunch or will the school tell him off?
I know it's all white sweet stuff but he just won't eat other things

Okay- truthfully. I have a child with food issues and SEN. Nowadays he is on school meals (all the children have to be where he attends) but in the early days I would pack whatever he would eat plus add food that I called 'stunt' food. Food that would pass the eyes of the observing teacher (as the packed lunches were monitored and things sent home again if they did not pass muster.... I got told off for a milky way once and some hobnobs as well). I got the idea of a 'stunt' apple from MN as it happens. I would send in a stunt apple and maybe a stunt marmite sandwich that I knew would not be eaten and would come back home again. But the point was he had food he would eat and everything else just came to be eaten by DH (in the case of the apple) and the sandwich in the case of me. Usually it was the same stunt apple for the entire week then eaten by DH on Friday.

.... and there was an occasion or two when DS did try the apple/sandwich. Because he saw it every day and eventually did give it a nibble. Only a nibble mind.

My DS brought the same apple to school and home again so often, I named it Kevin as it felt like part of the family 😂

He shriveled and died in the end (Kevin - not my DS).

I joined DS for lunch at his first settling in session for preschool- imagine my shock when he chose to tuck into the stunt carrot sticks I included 😆 The rabbit was most disappointed when I came home empty handed!

Would you not consider school lunches? They get them free at this age and usually have a sandwich option every day. My daughter would get a cheese sandwich every day as she has autism and will only eat certain things. At least then if he's only eating certain things in school, they can't blame you.

Ha! We had a stunt apple or banana that would go back and forth all week when DD was at primary. I knew full well she wouldn't eat it and it was solely for any staff monitoring the contents of their lunch.

I put a dry crust roll or crackers in my kids' packed lunch they do not eat sandwiches. Smoothies are not allowed at their school. Yoghurt is

I always have this issue with DD

tried pasta options, went through a stage of jam buttys cut into shapes... soon got bored and went onto lumchables. These have gone out the window to so last week I tried chicken buttys. She had a bite ? It's something but she has anythin like that with a yogurt, strawberry's, banana, little portion of popcorn, and a mini pack of a biscuit snack and a pack of fridge raiders. I said to school it's not as if I don't try as they know her siblings eat fantastic but I literally need to give her options I know she would eat at home so she doesn't starve ?! X
