What would make it nice do you think? Ive got a cuddly Peter rabbit and a picture of a giraffe framed. Some nice blankets.

Can you paint/wallpaper it?

The best thing I had in my baby boy’s room was a comfy chair for feeding him and reading bedtime stories.

@Everylittlethingsgonnabealright whar age did you start reading? What did you read? I forgot a chair!

We started reading to DS at 3 months old - ‘Mr Brown Can Moo’ by Dr Suess was the first book we tried. He was far too young to appreciate the book obviously but he did respond to the rhythm and the animal noises and enjoyed looking at our faces!

I always remember that scene in the film ‘3 Men and a Baby’ where Peter reads a newspaper article about a bloody boxing match to the baby in a soothing voice to send her to sleep, and he says something about it being more about the way you read it than what you’re reading. Pick anything at all and your baby will just love the interaction and the sound of your voice :)

Book shelves and bunting!

Snugglemonkey · 10/09/2022 23:07

I agree with bookshelf and comfortable chair. I read to my son the day he was born. He was in NICU and I read every day and still do.

A nice night light or lamp

picklemewalnuts · 11/09/2022 08:16

A dimmable or just dim light. It's nice to be able to go in and check/potter.

I had a lovely bear shaped rug.

Put pictures where the baby can see them, near the cot or changing mat. It is nice for them to have something to look at.

I think babies can enjoy books from birth. You can get special books aimed at newborns which have black and white pictures for them to look at.

A really comfortable rocking chair for feeds and reading books.

elizaregina · 11/09/2022 09:10

Pinterest has some beautiful ideas.

If I had my time again I love the woods style murals, and things like that.
Sort of camping in the woods themes.

Stunning wall murals out there now and not much money.

Unfortunately I can't link I don't think.

Something good for tummy time.
Apparently babies are not getting enough and it's absolutely vital for their development.

elizaregina · 11/09/2022 09:13

Op re reading start from birth!
They will love the sounds and lilts of your voice and slowly start to recognize words. Talk talk talk all. The . Time.
Oh look at that bird, what a nice day,it can feel silly when they are babies.

DuneFan · 11/09/2022 09:16

Wall stickers, they're really cheap and there are some lovely ones. Animals, vehicles, butterflies, whatever you fancy.

FayeGovan · 11/09/2022 09:19

A nice lampshade with details eg. Animals on it

BakewellGin1 · 11/09/2022 10:22

We debated on this and after the fiasco of wall stickers removing chunks of paint when removed in older DS room we decided on
Bunting, some safari prints from etsy in co-ordinating colours, a night light, cuddly elephant cushion and bean bag, small book case, silver storage ottoman (used for blankets and spares initially and toys afterwards), shelves on wall are used for money box, a few nice cuddly toys from relatives such as Mamas and Papas Elephant, Hamleys Bear bought when he was small...

HeyDiddleDaddle · 11/09/2022 10:35

You don't need much to make it cosy.

My one year old is in a little box room. He's got his cot bed, a little table with a lamp (soft, dim bulb), a rocking chair if he wakes in the night for a feed, a shelf on the wall with a framed picture from his favourite book and some nice wooden toys. I also hung up a decorative wooden aeroplane that I found in a charity shop. We've kept everything neutral and soft. I like the idea of bunting, think I'll get some. When he's older there might just be enough room for a little rug and toy box.

sevenbyseven · 11/09/2022 10:39

I wouldn't focus on the fact it's for a boy - the baby will like the same colours regardless of its sex. And if you're planning on more children, the room may well be a girl's room in future Smile

Why are you feeling lonely? Do you have a partner?
