Disco party ideas

Hi,
Im thinking of doing a disco party for my daughter who will be turning 7. Does anyone have top tips for making it go well?

We are planing to do it at home. We have a couple of decent size rooms downstairs so I thought we could have one set up as disco, with lights and music. And the other room set up as an activity place but lacking ideas on the activity!

Then add in glow sticks, pizza, cake etc.

Im not sure if this sounds enough and if they will get bored or my if house will get wrecked…

I think we will invite about 10 kids plus a parent each. And maybe do it on a Friday straight after school.

thanks very much

At that age it'll be hard to confine them to one room . Unless you're doing constant games like musical statues they'll get bored . We had a party in our house around that age and all they wanted to do was explore every room in my house ...ignoring the massive bouncy castle in the garden . We done a Halloween disco party ages 7/8 and while most were ok a select few trashed my house. Kids get over excited and forget their manners.
I say good luck to you . Hopefully the parents will help you .

It sounds good but yes be prepared for it to get a bit out of hand. A Friday after school is a good idea as they might be a bit more tired than say, a Saturday afternoon.

Do you have someone who can keep the games going while they're dancing? Musical bumps is probably the best for tiring them out.

Have a little side table with juice boxes, capri suns etc (anything non spillable) as they'll get thirsty dancing.

A good activity is decorating their own party bags (or just a bag for cake, you dont have to fill party bags). Buy plain paper bags with handles and supply stickers and colouring pencils. It's a good 'arrival' activity to direct them to as you're greeting guests.

Also pin the tail on the donkey can be a calming down activity before good.

Everyone loves pass the parcel. You can put forfeits in each layer such as 'Balance on one leg for a minute' or 'Think of 5 things beginning with S'

Make it clear no one is to go upstairs, including parents (nosey buggers). Put a barrier and a sign. Close off another doors that are out of bounds.

Try and do food towards the end. When you want them gone, present them with their party bag. Hangers on are usually a problem at home parties so try and keep the momentum of bundling everyone out!

Pin the tail on the donkey before FOOD.
