Is renting a phone a financially good idea?

Just looking at refurbished phones and see on that Magpie site there is an option to rent. So I could get a refurbished iPhone 13 for 25 a month instead of 60 on contract.

Anyone do this?

Do you need an i13? You can buy a good second hand outright for £125. And it's just a phone.

You would still need to add your own sim and pay the monthly top up for that and you’d have no phone to keep at the end of it

I'd get a new older model. You can probably get an 11 for that sim inclusive.

Or buy a new one on interest free form apple
I only paid £41 for a 12 pro when it came out. A new 13 is only £649 on their website so that's only £27 a month over 2 years.
Plus your sim.

I find for newer phones it's better financially to keep separate, older ones you can get good deals on combined contracts.

I've never understood iphones. I bought my phone new for £100 two years ago, and pay £10/month with the odd top up when I run out of minutes or data. Motorola with a decent Android system, pretty fast, doesn't crash and decent pictures out of the camera.

What exactly are the advanced features you'd be getting for an extra £45 per month, and would you actually use them?

I would get a sim only contract - mine is £8 a month on EE

Go to CEX get a grade A phone you like the look of - they are brilliant at advice , choose your price range ( get a decent I phone or Android from £200 upwards )
