Do all heated throws feel bony and wiry?

I just bought one from Lakeland and I’m really disappointed how it feels. It literally feels like a big bunch of wires between 2 thin blankets.
Are they all like this??

Oh no! I was going to buy one but I don't think I will now.

Theblackdogagain · 10/09/2022 06:56

Mine came from Argos, it's not fluffy but it's quite nice on my lap when working.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/09/2022 06:57

My Lakeland one doesn't. It's the one with stars on.

CrabbyCat · 10/09/2022 06:57

I bought a thick Dreamlands one www.dreamlanduk.co.uk/uk/heated-overblanket-tartan-check-velvety-sherpa.html . You can tell the wires are there but it feels thick and fluffy and once it's turned on and is warm I don't notice them anymore.

@HairyKitty , contact Lakeland. They will replace or refund.

I got the Beurer one. Chose it for the auto 3 hour auto so my kids don’t leave it on all night.
If they are all like it I will keep, if there’s a better option I will return. It was £60 which was my budget

I have a Dreamland one. The wires are there but as its quite thick you don't really notice.

When I first got it I wasn't massively impressed, but actually it's brilliant. Gentle, constant heat.

HairyKitty · 10/09/2022 07:10

@Toddlerteaplease is this the fairisle one?

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 10/09/2022 07:25

No it's gray with white stars on.

Oh this is so disappointing I was thinking of buying one I literally just started a thread about it

I've tried 2. Both times, I got electric shock every time when unplugging after use. I wouldn't risk it again.

LadyHelenaJustina · 10/09/2022 20:31

I have the grey Dreamland one and I don't notice the wires.

SpaceshiptoMars · 10/09/2022 20:40

To make it feel less bony, either the wires would need to be thinner, or you'd need one of the heavy ones with a fake fur texture. If the wires were thinner, it would be much more fragile and probably only last for a few sessions.

I've just got the Lakeland fairisle one and it seems quite manageable. Once it's freezing cold I'm not going to notice it being slightly unwieldy!

Snowiscold · 10/09/2022 20:46

I have a grey Dreamland one. It’s a velvet-fleece texture, thick material. I don’t notice the wires.

bananaboats · 10/09/2022 21:40

I got one in Aldi last year, its great you can feel where the wires are but its very cosy and I don't notice when I'm using it. It has a timer function as well I think it was £35 from memory.

Nat6999 · 10/09/2022 22:53

My Aldi one doesn't

RaininSummer · 10/09/2022 22:55

Nope. Had one for past 5 years and not noticed wires.

mytearsricochet · 11/09/2022 00:51

Mine is like this but the warmth makes up for it. It’s not too bad if it’s over you rather than beneath you or if you put a normal blanket over the top and turn it up a little higher.

Ilovetocrochet · 11/09/2022 01:56

I’ve got the Lakeland poncho which is so thick and fluffy that I cannot even feel the wires! I chose it over a throw as I like to have my arms free to crochet.
