Work. (NHS hospital) has asked us not to post anything work related on twitter or social media for 10
Days out of respect for the Queen. I wouldn't do that any way. It is it a bit of an off request?!

Doesn’t that mean not posting anything work related? Which is part of observing the official period of mourning by government and official bodies.

You can still go on your private Twitter, Mumsnet etc. How would they know apart from anything else?

Beyondthedale · 09/09/2022 19:51

Similar request here, I think it’s stupid but am filing it into the ‘whatever’ category.

Quveas · 09/09/2022 19:51

Many employers don't allow work related posts at any time. 10 days doesn't seem like much of an ask?

bloodywhitecat · 09/09/2022 19:52

What, so not even a "2nd of 4 nights" type of post? That seems a little...odd? How is that type of post disrespectful to the queen? Most NHS staff I know post almost nothing related to their work anyway.

Ponderingwindow · 09/09/2022 19:54

We can’t post anything work related on social media ever. I can’t even name my workplace. Most people avoid mixing work and social media anyway so it’s a non-issue.

official posts go through the media office so there wouldn’t need to be any sort of announcement. They would simply not post.

girlmom21 · 09/09/2022 19:57

My local hospital trust are still posting

iwishiwasafish · 09/09/2022 19:57

How often would you be posting something work related anyway?

I can’t post anything work related ever without running it past media and legal.

nachoavocado · 09/09/2022 19:58

Just work related yeah? Like the official twitter page? Or your actual one?

MajorCarolDanvers · 09/09/2022 20:04

We've done the same In our work.

Employers don't have want bad press or a twitter storm caused by staff post bad taste stuff in a professional capacity.

Stripeystrip201 · 09/09/2022 20:07

NHS and we've been asked to so the same. Our trust is also stopping social media coms.

MumUndone · 09/09/2022 20:07

It's part of the protocol for public sector organisations after the Queen dies. Stop being such a snowflake.

Same. How much do you post about work OP?

saraclara · 09/09/2022 20:12

We can’t post anything work related on social media ever. I can’t even name my workplace.

Same, or at least it was when I was working (teaching). No mention of where we worked at all, anywhere on our socials. And absolutely no work talk at all on there.
I didn't care because I always kept home and work separate, and didn't accept friend requests even from colleagues I loved and had worked with forever. But a lot of the TAs who had active FB lives and were all friends, were very unhappy. That rule was brought in easily ten years ago though.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/09/2022 20:31

We have a ward twitter account that we occasionally post things on. I just thought it was an odd request.

I'm not being a snowflake. Just thought it was a bit odd.

What do you post on it? Ordinarily.

NothingIsWrong · 09/09/2022 20:34

I am public sector and we have had this as well.

Changeisneeded · 09/09/2022 20:41

Work twitter account is not to be posted on but personal ones are fine

MrsLargeEmbodied · 09/09/2022 20:43

not had any such requests
although i dont think we are allowed to at any time - or at least we have to be careful with what we post

MilliwaysUniverse · 09/09/2022 20:46

Public sector organisations have been told by Cabinet Office that no announcements, operational delivery info or news can be announced, so your ward's Twitter account would fall under operational delivery (as it's "business as usual" stuff). It's protocol - just not much known about because events like this are so rare.

MrsLJ2014 · 09/09/2022 20:47

We've been asked not to post anything on the school Twitter page (all teachers have access to it!) but I'm still posting on my personal social media.

ABBAsnumberonefan · 09/09/2022 20:54

It’s just part of the protocols for the mourning period

andweallsingalong · 09/09/2022 21:10

We've had this as well and a request not to wear bright clothes to work.

Trying to figure out whether that means nothing garishly bright or they expect me to buy a whole new work wardrobe...

Oh right. So no work things on work social media. Seems fair enough. No work things should be on personal social media anyway.

Cudz · 09/09/2022 21:26

NHS here too and we've also been told not to post anything work related on our socials at all as it could be seen as disrespectful during a 10 day mourning period. In addition all non-critical work meetings should be cancelled at once, nothing can happen team aways days, etc and any events such as retirement gatherings or birthdays are not allowed to be celebrated during this period. It really seems a little OTT!
