Putrid smelling food

Right so, dH did our butcher run, was asked to get beef short ribs for this slow cooker recipe I saw, didn’t have any so got lamb ribs, no problem, found a slow cooker lamb rib recipe but my god the smell!!!!!

they’re not off, but it honestly is enough to make me dry heave. Anyone had this before? Can you not slow cook lamb ribs? Normal lamb or mutton doesn’t make me want to chop off my nose but this is hideous. Why?? Is it the fat? Should I have rendered it in a pan first?

No idea but curious as to how they turn out and if you are able to eat them!

Any chance you could be pregnant OP? I remember heaving at certain meat smells ? Can everyone else in home smell it ? 💐

Even when I was an omnivore I couldn't tolerate the smell of lamb, it is so greasy. The problem with meat generally is that it is a rotting corpse, that's why it's such a joke that people call it 'fresh meat' it's anything but. It's also difficult to tell if it is safe to eat. A fresh natural plant diet is the way to go :)

dh Has a blocked nose but it is literally to that level of aversion, that stomach turning smell. There’s not a snowballs chance I’m pregnant, as the saying go abstinence makes the heart grow fonder (I an 8 month old going through a sleep regression)

I didn’t even want to try, which is a real shame as the slow cooking sauce which was going to be reduced down to the glaze, was pretty dang good

I've never eaten lamb and I can't abide the smell! Any kind at all makes me heave.

That was graphic, thank you

normal lamb is ok with me but this was how you described.

ive got 2 small kids, one who was faltering growth and won’t touch pulses, we’ll be sticking with an omnivore diet. On my own though, I do think I’d go plant based but with high quality organic meats, eggs and fish occasionally
