Washer dryer

I hung a couple of loads of washing on clothes horses yesterday morning and they're still not dry. I don't want to put the heating on for a long while yet but it's going to be a struggle to get washing dry. Would a washer dryer be more economical than putting the heating on ? I also don't know if lots of our clothes can be tumble dried as they contain Lycra.
Just looking for peoples experiences/recommendations please.

Get a dehumidifier - they are amazing for getting clothes dry.

Ooh didn't think about a dehumidifier, what sort of size ? I don't have much storage so wouldn't want a big one getting in the way.

Don't buy a washer dryer. It was the worst purchase I ever made. It was forever breaking down and no good if I had a lot of washing and drying to get through at the same time.

That's my fear , along with only being able to do limited washes while the dryer is on .

You do have to get a decent sized one - ebac or meaco. I don’t have much space either - one of the reasons I don’t have a dryer. I keep my dehumidifier tucked away behind some furniture when not using it. Some people like washer dryers but my understanding is that they are not that effective.

I'm also looking at the electric drying rack things but again don't know if they work .

Washer dryers are (generally) terrible. I do a lot of work with one of the biggest appliance brands, and consumer feedback is generally that WDs were a purchase they regret/don't do a good job/go wrong more often.

A heated drying rack is probably your best bet (doesn't take up as much space as a dehumidifier).

Washer/driers are terrible, they take easily twice as long to dry the clothes than a standard drier. Agree with others that a dehumidifier is your best bet, that's what we use. It does blow an absolute gale mind 🤣

I didn’t use my tumble dryer much so when we had the kitchen and utility redone, I swapped to a washer dryer. Chuffing useless, I’ve not used it as a dryer for about two years, it takes forever to dry a load, anything that is a medium to large size, towels sheets etc, just go into a large ball and don’t dry in the middle. With it being a washer, once it starts, the door locks so you can’t open it to untangle anything.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll go for a heated drying rack , the Lakeland one has good reviews.
