Where can we meet up with family in London this Sunday?

DS age 10 and I, travelling from Ealing and needing to be at Kings Cross for the train home at 2.30pm.

Meeting my aunt and uncle who live in Lewisham but are happy to travel.

Where should we meet? Probably just for an hour or so for tea and cake? They're not big fans of eating lunch out, they would rather sit on a bench with sandwiches. DS is slightly too old for a playpark if he's not got anyone else to play with, too big for any sort of soft play type thing too.

Where on earth should we meet? I thought they might have suggested somewhere seeing as they live in London. But they've asked me where I think would suit ds.

Has anyone got any brilliant suggestions? Maybe a nice cafe with views over the Thames so ds can watch the boats go by and the grown ups can chat? I have no idea. And I imagine London is going to be mayhem this weekend.

I can't even figure out any sort of area that makes sense with where we're all coming from and going to.

Greenwich maybe? We've met at the park there before. And there's the cafe in the free museum if its rainy. I'll suggest that if we can't come up with anything else.

Grateful for any genius suggestions from locals. Thank you.

In fact that's a mad idea. The park is an hour and twenty minutes from Ealing and an hour and a half from King's cross. And public transport is going to be hideous.

Granary Sq/Coal Drops is what I came to say. More relaxed all round for you to be a short walking distance from your outbound station.

Alternative would be British Library - there is an interesting permanent collection and there is an area you can eat sandwiches. Wellcome Collection also good, not sure about eating.

Regent's Park would be a better bet if you want a park.

If Thameslink trains are running normally, you can get a direct train from Greenwich to St Pancras, so the travel might not be too bad.

Oh no Regents Park, you're all right. Not Richmond Park
