Moving house super tips

I am completely overwhelmed this time. Moving end of the month. I've filled a few boxes so far. I have recently been diagnosed with adhd but not yet medicated.
I'm getting really terrified this time around that I can't clear let's call it new build house in time for completion. Moving to Victorian house and also clearing dp house (upside down house). Though he has loads less stuff.

Please can you share your best advice for a completely over worked parent of a 9/12 year old with no annual leave left and already very exhausted. Thank you

Pay someone to do it.

Otherwise you need to declutter first.
Be ruthless.
Get a skip.

Get your children to make a start on their rooms and get rid of their own clutter (broken toys, unwanted books etc)

Go through each room and get rid of anything you don't need or want. Be ruthless. Think about whether it will be required in your new home and if not, get rid of it - wall art and soft furnishing go in this category.

Next, start packing away anything you want to keep, but can live without for the next few weeks (pack up all your perfumes, bar one). Throw away any excess toiletries (eg the set you got for Christmas from the boots 3 for 2). Go throw your kitchen cupboards and get rid of any out of date food, get rid of your excess Tupperware.

You can break this all up into smaller tasks eg take a bin bag and 'sweep a room', decluttering what you see in the room. Later on, tackle a 'hot spot' at a time, eg spend 15 minutes clearing a drawer, or a cupboard. Write a list of all these tasks and cross them off as you do it.

The aim is to pack away as much as you can so that you only keep out what you need.

Definitely get the dc sorting their rooms over the weekend. Give them bin bags for rubbish & recycling and clear a corner for them to place items that are good enough to sell or donate.

If you have a room or space you can completely clear you can use it to store boxes and other items that are definitely moving with you. We used the conservatory for this purpose.

Consider a yard sale or put freebies outside the house for people to help themselves. Advertise what you're doing on local fb page and add photos.

Pay a removal firm to pack as well. In the scheme of things it's not much more than just having them move you and it's a lot less stressful.

Instead of packing boxes (which they do better and quicker) you can declutter and take things to the tip/charity shops/sell on Facebook.

It's worth every penny to get the removal folk to pack IMO, then all you need to do is a good declutter and back an overnight bag and keep the tea/coffee and kettle out!

Pack pack pack with loads of marker pens to Mark the boxes - every evening all evening.
Down to a couple of suitcases of clothes and living on takeaways.

I never quite achieved this but have moved a lot and seriously aim for this as unplanned things / life gets in the way and you reach moving date in chaos.
