Nintendo Switch or Wii?

I'm a technophobe but considering the Wii or Switch, for me and my kids to keep fit over the winter (mostly for the dance game, and also for sports/fitness game). Does anyone have a recommendation for which would be better? I have no idea which one is best and it's quite an investment!

Wii is quite old now so you would be able to pick up a secondhand one from CEX & games relatively cheaply.

Switch is portable so great for taking away with you. But new games are quite pricey.

Can't comment on quality of games for your use.

As said above the Wii is old. You can probably get a secondhand one for about £20. I see them in charity shops quite frequently (mine came from there). CEX or places like Cash Converters sell the games - some as cheap as 75p.
I would get one of those first. If you use it's loads you can then upgrade and get a switch. If you don't use it much - sell it on Facebook or somewhere.
£30 ish for Wii and a few games vs about £300 for a Switch and a few games. Wii all the way.

Ds (8) has both. He actually plays on the wii (our old one!) a lot more. As others have said the wii is old technology and can be picked up for about £30, games for about £1 to £5 each. There are a lot of active and fun games on the Wii and ds plays wii sports, wii play and a wide variety of my old lego games! The switch is a lot more expensive and games cost about £40 each- obviously the games are a lot more up to date and you can get all the new versions of Pokemon games, Minecraft and Super Mario and Just Dance (pretty much all ds plays on switch!) You can play online with others (we haven't done yet but will start looking at as ds gets older) You can also use as either a handheld or plug into TV so it's very portable.

Wow that's great advice, thank you all!

The Switch is technologically a bit shite, the controllers drift and the games are all just old PC ports with a small handful of exceptions. The Wii is ancient.

Switch 100%

I gave my sister our wii when I got a switch for the kids. They missed it and kept playing it with her. She gave it back to them for the summer which they loved. My sister said she used to see lots of wii games in charity shops but I've trawled the local ones and not found any. Can get online though. They do still use the switch.

The Wii has much better fitness games than the Switch, there was Wii Fit 1 and 2, several dance games, Zumba, boxing and Wii Sports and like PP have said you will be able to pick things up really cheaply.

We have Ring Fit adventure on the Switch and it's also a personalised exercise game but not as fun as Wii Fit. I really love the boxing game on the Switch but the new sports (like Wii Sports) is rubbish. DD bought the sports game and we played it once and ended up taking it to CEX.

I think the Switch is still around £300, the Ring Fit cost £60 and boxing £30 so it is a really high initial outlay.
