How’s your first day or two of them being back been ?

for me I’ve missed mine, also felt relieved I can crack on with other things more

worried if they are ok and having a good day
more the eldest then the youngest

but it can be such a whirlwind
just wondering how others are finding it

Pleased - il be able to knock at least £60 off my food bill that was spent on constant snacking and elaborate sandwich-making ingredients. Every time I went to the shop I was nagged to get such and such a snack/drink.

Eldest goes to uni next week which will knock off probably another £80 a week!

Honestly though, they're good kids and I don't mind them being off, we've had a nice summer. But as I get older I find I really enjoy my own company more and more!

Youngest isn't doing full days until next week to ease him in but I'm relieved to finally get a minute to myself. I feel calmer and more relaxed now I'm back in my usual routine.

They needed it. I needed the space. Summer holidays are too long when you are holding down a job as well.

How long are the reception intros these days ? When my youngest started
it was six weeks of half days
is it still like that ?

That depends on the school. Mine is half days for this week then full time (including after school club as needed. Not an issue for quite a lot of them as they've been at preschool or nursery regularly, but I can see for some that will be hard going.

Other schools in the area I've heard about faff around with changing morning / afternoons half days starting this or next week and then for 2-3 weeks before going full time. Not sure how any working parent manages that as after school care isn't available until they are full time.

Happy. They love school. My eldest has come home with a sticker two days running, they love their new teachers and seeing their friends. I’m happy if they’re happy!

Not till tomorrow but honestly, can’t wait. Summer holidays were literally 2 months which was about 2 weeks too long. They are actually looking forward to it too. To be fair, it hasn’t been the easiest summer for various reasons.

Glad to get back into a routine and actually get some work done - I’ve been juggling childcare and work over the last couple of weeks (working half days etc) and I feel like I have a mountain of incomplete tasks to do now.

Summer holiday was lovely, but it would have been better if I’d had more time off as a block, and put DS in FT holiday club the rest of the time so I didn’t need to worry about him. First time I’ve done this though, so you live and learn.

Emotional. Year 7 starter so brand new school. Lovely school but big changes for her. I know she will be fine and get into the routine but I don't think I was emotionally prepared for it either. Be glad when she settles.
