Terrified of early labour

I live in a small village 40 mins from hospital. I am booked for a c section a week before due date but my pregnancy has been filled with stress from start to finish. My ex is causing me a lot of distress and I’m now 32 weeks. I’m so scared it will happen before the c section and I will be alone and have to wait for ambulance. I have no friends or family in the area.

Anyone?

You wouldn't call an ambulance in early labour, its neither an accident or an emergency.

You'd drive or use public transport.

annoyedneighbour1 · 05/09/2022 23:51

Unless there's more going on than what you've put in the op.

I didn’t think I could drive myself

Get taxi organised if you need one, stop panicking

You can't drive yourself!
Find a friend or a taxi that will take you. It will be quicker than an ambulance.

You could get a taxi/find a lift off someone. You don't call an ambulance unless it's an emergency.

Why not?

It's EARLY labour. She's having a section, so if she started having a few tightenings she'd go into triage. There's absolutely no reason she couldn't drive.

I'm not suggesting she drives herself in in established labour!

It's 1000000% wrong to call an ambulance.

Thistlelass · 07/09/2022 02:05

Well please take no heed of person telling you to drive yourself there! Labour can be unpredictable. I thought you meant going into labour before the c-section, that type of early.
What would it be like to organise a taxi? Could you contact a couple of taxi firms now to check how that might work? Otherwise maybe discuss with your GP and Midwife. All else failing I would definitely be calling on an ambulance. The service will be more than understanding given the length of your journey xx

ambulances are absolutely not for women in labour (unless you’re having a medical emergency. labour is not a medical emergency). It’s your responsibility to arrange transport to hospital, whether that’s a taxi or a lift from someone who’s ‘on call’.
