Tennis balls gentle heat, it will take absolutely ages to get fluffy. My full length coat took a full day!!

I have a Berghaus down jacket - a tumble dry with dryer balls or tennis balls really works, just takes longer than you think. Every now and then take the jacket out, give it a good shake, and then carry on drying.

Thank you I will have to hang overnight and get some tennis balls tomorrow as I don’t have any but I do have a tumble dryer! Do your think this will be ok?

You need to be careful what detergent you use when washing down, anything bio will degrade the down.
I find putting things on a line in the sun, or by a radiator, helps get them dry if you don’t have a tumbler. They need to dry quickly . Then shake and bash, shake and bash.

Home Bargains do wool laundry balls similar to tennis balls. 2.99 for pack of 3. I leave them in the dryer.

Update I dried the coat overnight on an airer so it was dry then I did manage to find three old tennis balls wrapped them in socks in case they were dirty then I put it on freshen so no heat and let it do it’s thing for about an hour and a half and the coat has puffed back up! Thanks everyone for your help. So happy this morning as I really thought I had ruined it and £££ to replace it but it did need washing!

You could try a hairdryer whilst shaking it? Otherwise these things need a tumble dryer. I’d doing clean next time.

Sorry old thread but SO UPSET! Just washed my daughter's North Face Gillet. I don't have a dryer that has 'no heat' setting, it either dries or decides it's dry and just stops.

what do you all suggest?! Just batter it?

Honestly some parts of it are totally flat, as if there's nothing even there to puff up! She's going to be gutted and I'm £120 out of pocket.

All is not lost!

You need heat to dry the down. Check the care label for how hot tumbling the jacket will tolerate. Or use "synthetics" setting. Or dry on a radiator, or with a hairdryer, and shake often!

The down will fluff up as it dries. You'll need to shake and "massage" our damp clumps.

Lolz... I'm here, too...North Face Gilet, Down filled.

Went in Buffy and lovely , came out like a pancake.

I used a delicate cycle, and a clear wool wash for delicates.

The down has clumped into hard wet wodges.

Haven't a tumble dryer.

Damn, I should have left it unwashed {but it had that slight sheen near pockets that one gets when it needs a wash {It's a black one so doesn't show dirt much}

By the looks, the down has spun into lumps, so the ''cells'' of the gilet are empty as all the down is in a wodge at one end.

It's hanging on the towel rack in the bathroom at the moment.

Hairdryer, patience and lots of shaking.
