warm bedding

Was wondering if buying warmer duvet covers is a good idea re keeping warm.

I have a super king so throws are never big enough.

There are electric blankets, so might look at those.

But was wondering about fleece, teddy or faux fur duvet covers and sheets.

I am someone who likes 100% cotton so not sure about these as they seem to all be polyester. Are they sweaty warm if that makes sense ?

What are they like , anyone have these in winter and recommendations for good reasonably priced bedding.

Thanks.

Marks and Spencers doesn't seem to have their teddy bedding this year. You'd think stores would be doing this with people trying to cut their energy bills.

Maybe they haven’t got it in yet. Not all the winter ranges are yet in stock.

We have brushed cotton on all year round as it's much softer than normal cotton. I bought the plain white sets from Dunelm and machine dyed them.

I'm another one who hates synthetic - just sweaty - so I have a 13 tog down duvet for each bed, assorted cotton duvet covers, and then Shetland wool blankets to go over the top if it's outrageously cold or if the heating fails.

plus a couple of hot water bottles.

I've had the fitted teddy sheets from Next and Dunelm but found they go flat in the parts you sleep on, though stay fluffy round the edges. Don't have a tumble drier.

Yep, keep forgetting it’s still summer with all the talk of winter .

A few years ago, we replaced our bedlinen when we passed on what we had to daughter moving out. We got a new duvet from Soak & Sleep in one of their many sales. It's two that button together, so we use the lightweight one (4.5 TOG) in summer, but swap it when it gets colder. Really cold, and we have both.

I don't think you can best the electoral blanket

It will simply warm everything up no matter what Sheets etc

Another vote for QVC bedding… “ Cozee Homes” I think it’s called. Absolutely love it.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/09/2022 19:34

We have three sets of brushed cotton bedding - two Orla Kiely and one of the Scion foxes - and use them all through winter. Ours were from John Lewis. We’re in NE Scotland and this is a cold house, but we’ve never had heating on through the night.

@MoriaRoseForever
I’ve got a ‘teddy’ duvet from dunelm it’s actually too warm so in don’t use it much but it’s fine on Egyptian cotton cover, I only ever have Egyptian Colton bedding, it is ‘cool’ but I also have An electric under blanket in the winter I’m never cold in bed. I do have a brushed cotton sheet which is lovely though as a PP said.
And I wear long sleeve pj sets from lands end in winter too which are 100% cotton.the tops are very cosy

TwoMonthsOff · 04/09/2022 19:38

@RayneDance
completely right, I’ve just washed mine ready for winter couldn’t do without my leccie blanket ❤️

A580Hojas · 04/09/2022 19:39

I think if you have a hot water bottle and a winter tog duvet and maybe bed socks you will be absolutely fine. I don't think there's a need to rush out and buy lots of new products. Save your cash for buying food.

TwoMonthsOff · 04/09/2022 19:43

@MoriaRoseForever
i mean an actual teddy covered duvet that you put a cover on - i think they do teddy bedding (and that is what You were referring to ) that would drive me insane and I’d never be able sleep on that

Mum2jenny · 04/09/2022 19:53

I always sleep on a fleecy blanket, but have various tog levels of duvet. Currently using a 1.5 tog, but have a 15 tog one if it’s going to be a cold winter.
Dont like the idea of fleecy duvet covers though, but no idea why?

Stickykidney · 12/10/2022 22:05

@Parrotpretty thanks for that. Everywhere oos but I got a cracking star one from Asda. Very excited my house is freezing! Had been looking in store with no luck!
