Getting the smell of faeces out

My FIL has bowel cancer and has been fitted with a bag. He had a leak yesterday and while I’ve scrubbed his armchair there’s still a smell. Any thoughts on how to get the smell out?

Try a solution of biological washing liquid in a squirty bottle. It works well for pet accident odours.

Biological washing powder in a bowl with some hot water - hot as you can stand it with gloves on - and scrub many times. Then plain hot water and dry with old tea towels or towels. Then spray with a lot of febreeze.

(My Mum had Crohn’s disease and bowel cancer and had many accidents).

Sorry to hear about your FIL.

I have a bag and agree that smells 'linger'
I just wash everything as soon as bag goes and febreeze the hell out of things that can't.
You can get special liquids that go in bags and thickeners so that it smells better and the residue is easier to deal with. (From bag supplier eg fittleworth or salts. Stoma nurse can help)
Am going through the same at the mo. Had my bag resitted from one side of my body to the other and it's playing up :/

Sprinkling bicarbonate of soda and letting it sit on the fabric overnight before hoovering off can help.

You can get a range of products for stoma bags, which might help too. For instance, drops that you put in the bag before you apply it, which help neutralise odours.
Also room deodorisers, for when you empty/change a bag.
Link to some here but Google/speak to his ostomy care suppliers

We use a spray for the dog which you can buy in Pets at Home called Simple Solution Stain and Odour Remover which is brilliant - it gets rid of the smell of dog faeces, so perhaps it would work on human faeces too?
I’m so sorry to hear about your FIL Sad

Also washable pads to put on seat in case of accidents.
