Stuck in an endless cycle of steroid cream - arghhh!!

I get eczema on my hands, quite badly it's on every finger in atleast one area and down the backs of my hands/on to the wrists too. Steroid cream gets rid of it within days, but then within days it's back again and I just get through so much steroid cream it worries me. I've tried so much other stuff and it's just relentless and steroid cream is the only thing that helps (that I've tried). I'm only 27 and my hands are so wrinkly and constantly itchy and rashy and I hate it. I used the cream for a couple of days after a bad flare up where it was red and angry and this is just 2 or 3 days later.. back again although it had cleared up. It's never ending.

Does anyone have some miracle recommendation? Sad

Another one to ask if you’ve tried cutting out dairy, my Dd had excema for years, it got absolutely awful this year (I’m blaming puberty), after a month of trailing no dairy, she is blemish free.

Cerave, Child's Farm and Balmonds have all helped me.

What has worked for me lately is mixing 1% hc45 with e45 and on top of that using Vaseline as a barrier cream. Has now almost cleared up though it has taken about three weeks to get here though including 10 days by the sea in the summer which also really helped. Am going to taper off use of the steroid as recommended here - really useful thread, thanks for posting. But I’ve had two patches for years, on my wrist and ankle and lately my hands as well, and, touch wood, they really seem to be on their way out.
Which moisturiser works seems to vary by person - trial and error. zeroderm ointment was v good for dd.
I’ve found this site is good: nationaleczema.org

And to make things even more frustrating, one person's miracle does nothing for the next person! Using the www.skinsalve.co.uk bar soap make a difference for me, it has is made with an occlusive to help keep moisture in the skin. But I have a friend who's flare-ups are really clearly linked to diet. I hope you find the thing that works for you.

Get referred to a dermatologist by GP. If the usual medications like steroid cream and emollients are not working, there are new medications (but needs discussion with a specialist, and you might want to discuss whether you plant any other children etc - to make sure any side effects are accounted for).

Bone broth worked for me when I had a, bad flare up a few years ago.
