Has anybody noticed a gradual reduction in motor traffic over recent weeks?

It goes without saying the reasons why this might be the case. I just wonder if others have noticed this? We live in a rural location, with a main road nearby which can be heard from outside, about 3 miles from a small town and close to links to dual carriageways to a small city. Out and about, and from home, there seems to be a very tangible drop off in car use. Is it the same near you?

No. Everyone is here on holiday.

Meant to say that’s why they aren’t near you

Yes, we live rurally but on a main road. Traffic has never got back to pre pandemic levels here where we are. The majority of traffic after 6 pm is haulage several depots use it and they have reduced. It’s been school holidays so no school run traffic but reduction in the regular day to day traffic here as well as night. No buses as they have scrapped their weekend service due to cost & staff shortages and weekdays have a reduced timetable.

Not at all seeming reduced here. Rural, city, town, none of it.

But I have been 'here' this week for the last 15 years and it has never been quieter. It is not just this week though, it has been dropping a bit for the last couple of months or so.

From what I can tell it is a mixed picture.
