I suffered a L3/4 disc prolapse six years ago and since then have suffered on and off with terribly painful sciatica and agonising pain whenever I have to sit for longer than maybe ten minutes max.

Obviously this has implications for work, and it means I am in pain for most of the day and very tired as a result. My marriage suffers, my parenting suffers, everything suffers. Despite this, no one can offer any sort of solution. I know sometimes you have to ask for things rather than have them suggested so has anyone had any sort of help with slipped disc / sciatica? It’s really getting me down.

Only a minor part of the solution I am sure, but could work sort you with a standing desk?
Quite a few people with back issues at my work use them

Unlikely to work and unlikely to be issued one.

Has the disc been fixed?

My friend went private and had some sealant squirted over it so it contained it and held it in pain (not sealant but you know what I mean)

I have multiple back issues not suitable for surgery and use 1400mg Gabapentin plus I HAVE to walk 10,000 steps every morning if I'm going to sit down at work

If I do this I can sit down and work for 3 hours - 3 hours is the MAXIMUM I can work even if I've walked for a couple of hours

It is fixed in the sense that it slowly healed of its own accord, but doesn’t seem to take much to have me semi crippled again.

it does get to me. And people don’t understand how tiring chronic pain is.

I have similar issues, and struggle with sitting for any length of time. I had a steroid injection into my spine in July which has provided some pain relief - definitely worth a try if you haven't already?

Thank you! Did you go through your GP for this?

I went privately, but definitely worth discussing with your GP as it should be an option for chronic, debilitating pain. I know the guy who jabbed me definitely offers the same procedure through the NHS, just with a longer waiting list.
