If you could go on any short break right now, where would you go?

Fed up with the cost of living crisis and having no money. I thought a little fantasy thread would be some nice escapism.

So you can go away for say 3/4 nights, all expenses paid. Where are you off to and what would you do?

I would love to go to Iceland in the summer. Been in the winter years ago but id love to see what it looks like not covered in feet of snow. Id go whale watching.

I'd go to the Balearics, I don't really mind which island. Somewhere near the coast, plenty of sun and tapas late into the night. Or Andalucía, maybe to Jerez for a bodega tour or two and a trip to the Arab baths.

Lampzade · 02/09/2022 21:53

For three/ four nights it would be Cyprus or Budapest
Longer holiday - Gambia

Rome, because it is my favourite city in the world.

drspouse · 02/09/2022 21:56

Seville/Granada but autumn or winter. With no Lego, also.

Right now, I'd settle for a night in a Premier Inn or Travel Lodge... just anything to be alone for a bit.

In reality I'd love to explore South America - all of it.. the rain forests, the rivers the mountains, the beaches. I'd hire a little plane and hop about from place to place on a whim. I'd live on fruit and fish and plantain and sleep in everything from posh hotels to little mountain shacks.. you did say an unlimited budget???

Milliemoo1908 · 02/09/2022 21:57

Budapest

Hoolihan · 02/09/2022 21:57

Ibiza, without a doubt. So good for the soul.

Tilda77 · 02/09/2022 22:03

I would just be happy to go back to North Wales. Spent an amazing week there last month exploring and walking everyday. It's my happy place and I always feel totally content when I'm there. With an unlimited budget I'd just be able to have a fantastic holiday cottage with a swimming pool and eat out every night😅

DialSquare · 02/09/2022 22:06

Gleneagles. You'd have to roll me out of the place after all the food and drink I'd indulge in!

bluechameleon · 02/09/2022 22:07

Vienna and Bruges are places I've long wanted to go. Or maybe Florence, I've been a couple of times and loved it but not for many years.

Just back from Iceland, and would go again in a heartbeat. We did Reykjavik, horse riding, quad bikes, Flyover Iceland, the Golden Circle and the Blue Lagoon. It is magical, although really expensive. My daughter took me in March when it was snowy and cold and we saw the Northern Lights. I had to go back with my other 2 because it was so lovely, and it's one of the best things we've done. 4 nights there, WONDERFUL.

redfairy · 03/09/2022 00:13

Scotland, Ireland and Knaresborough. Never been but would love to visit

mjf981 · 03/09/2022 02:05

Hvar. Perfection.

katscamel · 03/09/2022 02:31

So difficult. I can't decide between Istanbul which feels like my 2nd home or somewhere I've never been like Oslo, Helsinki or Budapest. Or....a trip to Rabat to see a good friend.

WhereYouLeftIt · 03/09/2022 02:36

Venice. I'd love to go to Venice.

UnconscionableSnacking · 03/09/2022 02:44

Somewhere in the alps with an outdoor mineral pool with a view of the mountains, a cosy indoor fireplace, great food in the restaurant and an on-site spa.

Or Rome.

I love this thread. Fantasy break planning is EXACTLY what I need right now!

warofthemonstertrucks · 03/09/2022 07:20

New York
Or the outer Hebrides
Or
Carcassonne.

Devo1818 · 03/09/2022 07:30

St Tropez or Cannes

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 03/09/2022 07:36
