It's just me, DS and DD.

I don't even own a telly. They just get broken. Lights rarely on. I mostly just use the microwave for food, and oven a max of 15 mins a time. During the day none of that is in use really

What on earth am I spending £600 a month on exactly?! Charging phones and the shower? ConfusedSad

I don't know what to do. What will I do! I don't really use my energy anyway. So I can't cut back either and I can't afford £600 a month. I don't have that. It doesn't exist even if I stopped eating

Got a smart meter finally installed in March. It’s useful. We seem to use max £8 a day gas and electric. At the moment not using any gas so just paying standing charge but winter will see the heating go on. While we were away on holiday, it seemed to be about £3.20 a day

Not so simple. We had plumbers round and the younger ones said they’d never seen a system like it. The older ones said we’d need a whole new central heating system - about £10k not including the fact we’d have to pull up all our floors. However the time may have come to bite the bullet and get the work done

So your boiler is inefficient as well.

I was told by the previous owners when they changed the boiler their heating costs halved and the place was warmer.

Check whether you can just change the boiler and not pull everything up. I know a handful of people who managed to get a new boiler attached to existing pipework.

You do realise if you delay too longer you will have to get a heat pump as they are phasing out boilers?

Regardless seems you better start saving for a replacement. 😕

Well I knew we paid to feed them and I presumed we paid all their energy and water bills anyway as they are workplaces e.g. Chequers, so I'm actually surprised they contribute anything to it at all.

we pay the enrgy bills for all MPs primary residences but they can switch residencies as/when they want. I presume we paid for the stables to be heated.
