Going through a hard time right now
mainly due to my house being upside down and a mess due to an extension being done

found this far far more stressful then I thought I would

but I’ve got to the point where I’m struggling to sleep
can get off ok
bit I wake about 3 and can’t get back to sleep
ive also had a couple of nights where I’ve not slept at all
which I didn’t know was even possible

move been really struggling to eat
havjng to force food down
I lost weight

and there’s been a few time about 3 times where I’ve thrown up in the am
which. I think is from the stress of not sleeping, or eatting well
but it’s just been bile

also my body’s been aching all over
guess that could just be tension in my body and I was wondering would a massage help ?

Or to anyone out there that’s struggled in this way what did you do to help yourself

Anything I can do to relive the body aches
a hot bath doesn't seem to help

do you think a massage would or could that make the tension worse ?

I’ve been taking some sominex on the occasional night
I’ve taken 7 so far over a period of say 2 weeks ish

but it says in the instructions to not take more than 7 nights

but they do come with about 14 in a pack I think

I do agree the lack of sleep seems to be what’s topping me over the edge and taking away my ability to cope

i don’t know if I should talk to my go now or try n hang on another fortnight

I know exactly what you mean . I have a news channel on my phone really low at night . It helps fill the head space where anxiety likes to hang around . not loud enough to understand what is being said .

The problem with is insomnia is that it is a vicious cycle.

The GP at the time said he was happy to prescribe something To help with insomnia if it had a definable cause, in this case jet lag. (It become home from a business trip to Japan three weeks and hadn't slept for three weeks because of the vicious cycle)

Why not try the GP but don't know how far you will get. Lots has changed with GPs in the past 10 years.

Was your mood generally good before the renovation? Something to consider.

Wartywart · 31/08/2022 12:29

Mid 40s, sleeplessness could be the start of peri-menopause related insomnia, so that, coupled with you worrying about the renovation which is making it worse. Not sleeping means everything is worse so anxiety also bad, and body aches. Body aches also a menopause symptom. Talk to GP. First thing to tackle is the sleep.

Nothing useful to add, only that I am experiencing identical symptoms at the moment. We have work going on in the house that means everything is in chaos and I’m really not coping well or sleeping well.

I just wanted you to know you are not alone. I am hoping once our building work is done, I will go back to feeling like myself again.

Starfishswimmer · 01/09/2022 06:52

So took a sominex last night as I needed some relief but I don’t drink a glass of water with it
and woke at 430 ish with a seriously dry mouth
thjnk I might have been coughing and been unable to get back off to sleep

mind racing again
tried all the distraction techniques

should of had a glass of water with it
so but annoyed at myself

Thanks helps to know I’m not alone or have finally gone mad

what are you doing to try and help yourself through this time ?

OP posts:

Not much seems to be helping. I’m in a vicious circle of feeling so rubbish that I don’t have the energy to exercise. Eating properly is out of the window because I have no kitchen. And because I’m feeling ill, I’m then panicking that it’s something more than stress.

Starfishswimmer · 03/09/2022 19:34

Sorry to hear that
I wish I had some good advice for you
hopefully better days are coming for all of us

The best thing you can do is visit your GP and tell them what you just posted.

In terms of relaxing I find reading really absorbs me so I spend less time stressing so feel more relaxed

This.A hundred times this!!!
