If you had 2 days away, where would you go....

I have a few days leave I need to use up in a couple of months. I have never been away since my children were born, and feel like a couple of days alone somewhere. We can fix it so that DH does all the necessary child stuff - he's had a couple of short breaks recently, so it's my turn if I wish. But where to go? I'd rather not spend a huge amount of money, would probably rather have at least a fridge, if not other self-catering facilities, but I prefer the idea of hotel type place rather than an Air B&B. Any suggestions? Was thinking Premier Inn, but don't think they have fridges. I'm just outside London, so willing to travel into London to a mainline station to get somewhere. But would rather not stay in London. Just somewhere I can relax with a couple of books, maybe with a small town or beach nearby, not completely remote, easy access to the train. Any ideas? Either area and I'll look for a place to stay, or any specific places you've stayed that you've loved.

Thank you!

If you don’t want to go abroad I’d recommend Deal in Kent. A proper little town with interesting shops, a pebble beach and a pier. And more pubs than you can shake a stick at. I love it down there

If you get the bigger rooms in a premier inn they do have a fridge. Premier Plus they're called I think.

If Premier Inn rooms have a fridge sometimes, that'd be perfect.

Just had a little look at Deal. Looks lovely. I like the idea of a few beach walks.

Lyme Regis? Not me but my friend had a birthday weekend there with her best friend. Nice beach walks, pretty town, afternoon teas etc.

Further away, and it is a longish taxi ride to and from the station, but – the Victoria at Holkham. V close to the glorious beach, and I found it to be a lovely hotel (and I'm not really a hotel person, prefer s/c usually). It was luxurious but not stuffy, really relaxing, excellent staff but again not stuffy or formal, just friendly and competent. Genuinely good hospitality.

Brighton is always nice, though hotels are so expensive.

Lyme Regis is great.

If you're travelling by train, you could go to Woodbridge in Suffolk. On a river, not a beach, but lovely with pubs, art galleries etc. You can catch a bus or walk to Sutton Hoo. Some of the pubs do rooms.

Whitby , York , Liverpool or Stratford upon Avon
