Smell of my feet just getting worse

At the minute I have a problem with smelly feet

Bit self conscience about it now, yesterday I had my Boots on for roughly 15/16 hours, which doesnt help I know, but despite this I never used to have it this bad.

Surely I am not the only one, though any cure for smelly feet?

You've probably got a vicious cycle going on with the bacteria from your feet sweat taking up residence in your boots/shoes/socks and then getting back onto your feet. You'll need to treat all of them!

Soak your feet in salty water each day then a proper good wash with soap. Dry really thoroughly. Antifungal cream if any signs of that.

Antibac/antifungal shoe spray inside boots/shoes after each wear then out in sun if possible

Antibac/antifungal laundry rinse to deal with the socks.

Good luck!

Sorry meant to add you are definitely not alone. It can be a v difficult cycle to break

dh has the most sweaty feet ever.

his feet only smell awful if he doesn't let his shoes dry between wears.
between wears he sprays in a shoe spray and puts in a wooden shoe tree.
after he's worn shoes for a long time he washes them well or soaks in a washing up bowl with a table spoon of soda crystals. then dry well.

good luck!

And if the above doesn't sort things out after a week or so, I'd go and see a podiatrist to check if anything else is going on.

Ooh there was a very good spray recommended on here that I bought, solved my sweaty smelly feet problem for months at a time. Called actifresh, by peditech. Available on Amazon.

Needing to try something different I know, and will look into any suggestions

Kind makes me feel like I dont want to take my Boots or Shoes off, until I am in a position to go for a bath or a shower

Do you wear your boots for work? Is it possible to have 2/3 pairs and rotate? I know that can be expensive but then you can let each pair dry out thoroughly. Wash socks at 60 with a bio powder and use dettol antibacterial rinse, you only need a small amount and its often on special offer in Tesco.

Also switch to bamboo socks and take zinc supplements - both can help.

You can soak your feet in a solution of potassium permanganate and if there's anything fungal going on it will help. It'll dye the soles of your feet temporarily.

Yes I do wear my Boots for work, have 2 different pairs for work

Yesterday I did not have on either of those particular pairs though, I wear Socks every day, and never go barefoot either

You need to scrub your feet in the shower/bath. Long handled brushes are good for this.

Are the boot leather as synthetic uppers will not allow sweat to evaporate.

The smell is caused by the bacteria that feed of sweat. Can be Made worse by a fungal infection.

Boots/shoes need to dry before rewear. This can be helped by removing the the insole or buying a removable insole and stuffing the shoe with newspaper (or paper towel/kitchen roll). Also consider an anti fungal talc powder in the shoe after drying or a deodorising spray.

For the feet themselves wash and dry using a coal tar soap (wrights is good).

Remove hard skin (foot file of electronic footfile thing), cut and clean out the gunk from under nails and down the sides of the big toe nail carefully. Then apply an antifungal cream (including under the top of the nail) and leave it to dry then a light foot lotion to moisturise. Try and remove what the bacteria feed off et dead skin. Leave feet to air dry over night in sandals or flip flops.

Wear boots with cotton socks or wool socks depending on hot or cold footedness!

Also try driclor and over the counter anti antiperspirant that you put on at night and leave to dry, or a simple foot deodorant.

If you can go to a podiatrist for a foot MOT they will do the cleaning and prepping for you and be able to advise you.

My feet have caused me many issues and embarrassment over the years starting by wearing boots for work and getting feet wet in them. One old school GP recommended a potassium permanganate foot soak which I did for a while. Kill bacteria. Just a quick Google shows it's good for disinfecting and deodorising.

At I home wear flip flops. Now I really like my feet. Aged 42. (18-32 they were embarrassing)
