Online GP

My OH had dodgy spot on their face. Me being Dr Google has decided they have squamous cell carcinoma. A kind of skin cancer.

They are rubbish at going to GP, so I have suggested doing an online one. And tbh GPS are pretty shocking round here at the moment, by the time they get a telephone appointment - 6 weeks, it will be quicker to go online.

Does anyone know of online GPS can refer to cancer specialists?

Our GP surgery subscribes to an online locus service and I used it when I found a lump in my breast. I got an immediate referral to the breast clinic. Definitely worth doing - much easier and quicker than trying to get a face to face appointment.

Is he registered with a GP? If so have you looked on their website to see what the options are?

Ours has a "contact us online" option that my DH used when he had a similar issue - you just type in the message and add a photo. They referred him straight to dermatology at the local hospital and he had an appt come through within two weeks.

No the surgery doesn't have a contact us online facility. I could start another thread about how useless GP surgeries are in this area now.

But thanks for replies, I suspect they will be able to give them a referral.

Thanks. I'll let you know how they get on.

DH had a squamous carcinoma earlier this year. He (we) thought it was a boil and he had a face to face appointment with the practice paramedic, who diagnosed it and got someone else to confirm. He had another appointment some distance away, with a specialist and an appointment locally to remove it. Probably about a couple of months in total.

I had something on my back, did an e consult with a photo and had a face to face appointment the following week.

Well!! He booked an appointment with his GP which ended up being on the date of the Queen's funeral. So was cancelled.

Rebooked but only got a telephone consultation, which surprise surprise resulted in the booking a face to face appointment.

FINALLY got his appointment today and yes it is cancer! They've given him some cream.

So nearly 3 months of waiting. Got to love the NHS at the moment :(

@FatFucker what happened with you OH? And how is he now?
My DM has been referred today for suspected SCC. I'm worried sick. She has a non healing lesion under her eye lid, been there a month, it's also itchy and irritating and her eye goes all puffy. Was treated for conjunctivitis, bletharitis and exzema after 3 visits to GO to see student drs. Today she managed to see her normal GP and right away she said she didn't like the look of it and wanted to refer her.
I'm worried sick 🙁

I can understand why you're worried embracing. It's scary to find out!

My OP was given some cream, used it for a few weeks. And the lesions went away!

All was fine!

It's easy for me to say "Don't worry" but I hope my update is some relief for you. I'm sure your mum will be fine. Please update how she gets on.

Did your OH have the condition below, not a skin cancer? Good news it's resolved with treatment

Thanks for replying @FatFucker did the cream make the cancer go away without any surgery? I've been reading up on SCC (which I probably shouldn't) but I feel better though seeing the stats (if it is infact SCC) she's waiting on the appointment which can take up to 2 weeks. Will update u, thank u xx
