So the tin of paint says touch dry in 2 hours and recoat after 4 hrs. This information is all well and good, but I fell it is missing the vital " when can I put the bloody furniture back without fucking the finish when it push things near?

I'm thinking 24hrs, but am so impatient but know I will leave marks if I rush.

Any suggestions?

Depends on the paint eg
Lick
It's not always an exact science. Factors like whether you've plastered, the temperature of your room, or even the weather can affect how long your paint takes to cure, but depending on moisture levels and heat, Lick paint takes 5-10 days to cure fully.

Dulux
The final hardening of a water-based paint will therefore depend upon the last traces of the coalescent solvent leaving the paint film, which can be expected to take a week or two under normal conditions, namely air temperatures of 20ºC to 25ºC and 50% relative humidity.

Nooooo I'm not waiting weeks to put the room back!

Need to come to terms with the furniture should cover the scuffs I make.

Add that to coming to terms with my cutting in is shite, my application of lining paper is shite etc .....

On the plus side, I did it all my bloody self and no fucker else can judge!

I put furniture back in after 24 hours. Just a bit more carefully than I normally would.

Life's too short.

I'd put the furniture nearly back now - so roughly in the right place, but about an inch from the walls.

Newlifefortyplus · 28/08/2022 15:37

Back is an inch or so away from the walls. Issue is it's only me doing it all and I'm 'bull brained' force over thought 😳🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️🙁😢

I’m painting my room as we speak, dark green and I’m using dulux.

like hell am I waiting 24’hours to put the furniture back 😂.

once it’s touch dry it’s all going back about an inch away from the walls. Life’s too short!

One cabinet and a clock back so far, it's the sofa I just gotta shove that concerns me

If you mess it up, you won’t see it because it’s behind the sofa.
Just make sure you leave a small gap.

Newlifefortyplus · 28/08/2022 17:53

It's all back and no scuffs!

Over thinking at is best Blush
