I'm fairly settled on a Ninja400 - it's in my basket!

I've seen loads of people comment on here saying they use theirs daily but I'm a sucker for buying gadgets and need to be sure I'll use it!

Ooooo halloumi…..not tried that yet but I’ll bet that works a treat! Thanks @Soontobe60 !

I don't baked potatoes last week. I brushed the outside in melted butter wee bit salt and pepper and put In for 25 mins flipped over for another 25. They were bloody lovely crispy on the outside and so fluffy in the middle. I cook most things in it now. Think it's the best invention xxx

I have seen pictures of salmon done in an air fryer before and it looks really nice.

When done in the air fryer does it stink up the house for days like pan frying/grilling does?

No smell at all actually. Unlike with the microwave...

@Furries

I hated the chicken I did in mine.
What make is yours and how did you do the chicken

I’ve got the Ninja Foodi Dual 400 (larger capacity drawers).

Medium chicken. Brushed a bit of oil over the top of it and seasoned the skin with salt and pepper.

Put it on the roast function for 50 minutes at 190 degrees. After 25 minutes, reduced the temperature to 160. Took the drawer out once finished and that’s how it looked. I’m still amazed at how moist it was.

Also watch this video where they show what the 400 can do. Lots of ideas

Has anyone cooked vegetarian sausages in them? I buy the Cauldron ones. They come in a packet if 6, I usually cook them all & have the others cold. Can you cook then just in the drawer or would I need a rack or something to keep them separated. Does the oil not 'put' the plastic (?) drawer?

SunflowerSmith · 28/08/2022 23:54

I've got the 15 in 1 and the xl grill, they make lovely curries, also toad in the hole and the grill does meat to perfection with the probe.

Bimblesalong · 29/08/2022 00:01

I made individual apple and blackberry crumbles using pudding ramekins. Picked the fruit from the garden first with ds, who is loving the Ninja.

We did the veggie sausages today - just gave them a little squirt of spray oil and did them in one of the drawers.

ds heated croissants for his breakfast. We have the af400.

alwaysfactor50 · 29/08/2022 00:52

I bought a potato chipper and it's fab, shove potatoes in, put them in a bowl of water to soak, dry on a tea towel and toss in oil and seasoning and you'll get delicious chips!!

The finished product

@Furries
i realise this is probably a stupid question, but here goes…. When you cook a roast chicken, do you still get the usual juices in the bottom of the tray so that you can make property gravy afterwards?

pineappleeyes · 29/08/2022 08:47

Sorry to hijack your thread OP but can anyone recommend an air fryer thats not £100s? We are a family of 3, me and 2 DDs 15 and 11. I would love one but struggling to find one that will suit us thats not going to cost too much.

AtomicBlondeRose · 29/08/2022 08:52

@WhoopItUp yes, the chicken sits on a little grill bit so all the juices are nicely kept underneath. A roast chicken is so easy I do one nearly every week now. It makes it into a weekday evening thing which is great. And cheaper than buying chicken fillets.

I’ve made granola bars in mine this morning (we like them really brown! You could just cook them less if you don’t like them so well done - it’s not a Ninja fault!)

We got a tower one from amazon for £56.

You’ve converted me! Thanks for replying!

pineappleeyes · 29/08/2022 11:02

@Gufo thank you. Ive just ordered. Excited to try it.

Furries · 29/08/2022 11:07

@WhoopItUp - as Atomic said, it sits on a plate, so juices are collected underneath. However, there was way less mess than when done in a tin in the oven. I’m a heathen and never make proper gravy - so am not sure whether it would be enough, wish I’d taken a photo of the resulting mess!

I cook veggie sausages for DH in one drawer and meat ones for me in the other. They’re delicious! I spray the veggie ones with a little oil. They don’t stick.

paxman · 29/08/2022 11:28

I can’t find one anywhere! All out of stock. Tried argos, John Lewis, Curry’s, Very, Amazon….

If you make gravy from granules, all you need to do is use slightly less water then once it’s mixed add the juices from the chicken (skim any fat off first). Delicious!

Same - I have John Lewis vouchers from our wedding last year that I'm hoping to use on one but no stock for 70 miles!

Cost co 50 quid

DoctorManhattan · 29/08/2022 13:41

Couple of other things I’ve done in air fryer which came out really nice -

Chicken wings - nice and crispy and coat with buffalo sauce after
Hard ‘boiled’ eggs - I know it’s not boiled but it comes out the same, just put the eggs into the air fryer and no boiling water or pot needed.
Steak - have tried ribeye and sirloin so far, both came out very tender and nicer than frying in a pan
Sweet potato fries
Bacon - I love crispy bacon so use streaky rashers and they come out kinda like you get in American diners

Sunshineboo · 29/08/2022 16:51

those of you doing lovely roast type potatoes - do you keep the little grill drawer in? xx

DanielTheGhostGangbanger · 29/08/2022 17:18

I've tried mine for a few things so far but I keep either cooking them for too long or turning the temperature up too high (I think) because they're a bit TOO crispy. I think I just need to work on getting the hang of it. I'm a pretty decent cook normally but I can't quite get the hang of my air fryer yet (it's very new though).

Everyone else taking to it easily and I'm here like the class dunce 😅🤦🏻‍♀️
