What bug is this? (With Photos)

My son is being bitten when he plays on the carpet in his bedroom. We moved into our house a year ago and never had any problems with bugs until now. I have just found this in my bedroom. At first I thought it might be fleas (previous owner of our house had 7 dogs) but now I’m not sure. We don’t have any pets. Can anyone help me identify them and how to get rid of them. Photos below are better if you zoom in. Thanks

It's a gnat

Will they go away on their own when the summer is over?

What does the bite look like? It could be fleas.

Fleas don’t have wings. Do you have a garden? Look for any pots or old buckets or water butts with standing water in, a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Either pour the water over plants so as not to waste it or put a good squirt of washing up liquid in to break the surface tension and drown the larvae. If you have a pond put in a couple of suitable out door goldfish.

We don’t have any plants in the garden at all. The previous owner paved over it. Just a shed and washing line for now.

My son has small red bumps on his skin that scab over in a couple of days. He says they aren’t itchy and I’ve not seen him scratching. I did find a bug in his room the other day and I don’t think it had wings. It’s was extremely small, looked a bit like a woodlice, but much smaller and I killed it immediately and couldn’t get a photo.
