Can I make an omelette like this?!

I've bought myself a cheap omelette maker

Just wondering how I'd go about actually adding something into the omelette if it's in an omelette maker?

When do you add the cheese and ham for example?

Has it not got a recipe booklet? I'd be adding ingredients before you pour and cook surely? Let me know what it's like!

NannyR · 27/08/2022 07:56

I've not used one myself but from what I've seen, you pour in the egg then add the fillings on top of the raw egg and close it up.

sinkthebridge · 27/08/2022 07:58

It's from Amazon and hasn't arrived here yet so not sure if it's for a booklet For recipes and how to add the ingredients etc

I'm trying to be better around food so thought I'd give it a go!

Why do you need an omelette maker? They are the easiest thing on earth to make

BarbaraofSeville · 27/08/2022 08:27

Yes, what does an omelette maker achieve that a frying pan doesn't?

AKnitterofThings · 27/08/2022 08:31

An omlette pan would have been better then you could chuck in what ever you wanted and have it as thick or thin as you like. I like my omlettes done the French way, thin and made cutting in with a knife.

I've never used one but found this. Hope you enjoy your omelette when yours is delivered.

Honestly your money might be better spent returning the gadget and having some trial runs at making omelettes with the help of cooking videos/guides or even a lesson. That might boost confidence in general cooking skills as well - improving your food and cooking is a great target to have, but gadgets don't always help with that.

If the gadget cooks anything like the video attached to this thread, both omelette and "fried" egg are overcooked and do not look very appetising.

I mix everything up in a jug, then pour it in.

x2boys · 27/08/2022 10:27

I had one ,I just mixed all the ingredients together and poured, in it did make lovely fluffy omelette, s I can also make them in a pan after watching a you tube tutorial.

anotherpotoftea · 27/08/2022 10:28

I’d return it OP. I’m not much of a cook and even I can make omelettes - you really don’t need a special gadget.

NippyWoowoo · 27/08/2022 12:15

Clearly they're not the easiest thing ever to make or the makers wouldn't exist. I struggle with omelettes, they fall apart 90% of the time and just turned into scrambled egg.

Maybe she lives in a small house share or beds or without access to cooking facilities. Maybe she isn’t confident and would prefer to use a gadget with instructions. Maybe she has a problem with motor skills and it’s easier to use a machine. Maybe she just wants one. There are many reasons why somebody might use a gadget you might not - it’s not easy for everyone.

I have watched YouTube tutorials for many things, I also can't apply eyeliner decently as well 😂

I just have horrible coordination and am a calamity cook.

Too many thjngs going on for me that I mess up, heat is funny, you have to have it hot then lower etc, also depends on the type of stove top you have and how quickly it adjusts to heat changes.

I'm only now beginning to master fluffy pancakes 🙈

You've just reminded me I have one of those plastic microwave ones I need to start using it again. Handy to take to work to make lunch

JoeLovesGina · 27/06/2023 14:09

I've just bought one and am quite impressed with it. Not usually one for gadgets but can make quick and healthy lunches in this.
