I've been in my job for 2mths and I really hate it. I keep putting off handing my notice in but it's just getting worse and worse. Help me feel better 😭

I remember a new employee being introduced at the start of her first day, and then she made the excuse, "I'm just going to move my car", and never came back.

😂

I had a new starter once who it turned out had only got a job because his (rich) dad had made him. On day two, he asked who he needed to speak to about going part time, on day four we thought he was in the toilet but actually he was hiding under his desk playing candy crush.

He didn’t come back for the second week.

Three months.

But you've been posting about this job for weeks now. Just leave if it makes you this unhappy!

Soubriquet · 26/08/2022 09:02

4 hours Grin

TheWayoftheLeaf · 26/08/2022 10:03

Six months but it was only a once a week shift to top up money. The manager was a bully, the uniform was bizarre. I'd have quit sooner if I could've

Three months. But then I went back six years later and stayed 12 years.

Wow why did you go back?

dollybird · 26/08/2022 21:15

Four months. It was meant to be a 12m FTC, but I don't think they really thought about what the role would actually be doing, so I was just doing stuff that no-one really seemed to need or be interested in. I was so bored. I went back to my previous job which luckily had become vacant again, with one week's notice. If I'd got to six months I'd have had to give 3 months. Both jobs NHS finance.

BaconandCheese · 26/08/2022 21:18

9 months, I knew it was the wrong job for me after a couple of weeks, should have left then instead of enduring 9 months of hell with a narcissistic boss

UpsideDownDownsideUp · 26/08/2022 21:22

Half a day until arpind 12.45pm. In a cafe
The manager was a sexist pig.
He'd made a comment along th lines of
' im sure you can operate the dishwasher, it takes no skill whatsoever, plus you women are best suited to the scrubbing jobs'

I said im sorry what did u just say?

He said. Oh deaf as well as no skill? ( he didn't know me. Or my qualifications)

I took the pinny off and said stick your job up your arse.

He said im only joking, you can't leave its busy.

Well im not joking just fucking watch me!

My then BF ( now dh) was raging. But thankfully i dont need anyone to back my Corner

Justcashnosweets · 26/08/2022 21:26

2 months. But I knew after day one that I hated it. Luckily it was a secondment so I went joyously back to my old job.

Summerof22 · 26/08/2022 21:28

Gave my notice in the first week, they still made me work one month’s notice.

VioletCharlotte · 26/08/2022 21:40

Half a day. It was a telesales job back in the 90s, I was 21. It was so awful, I walked out at lunchtime and never went back.

Qwey · 26/08/2022 21:43

4 days, I didn't even last a full week, but I was feeling sick when I came home and so nervous at night, I knew it wasn't going to improve and would just get worse and worse. Awful place.

LurkingBookseller · 26/08/2022 21:44

About 3 hours. It was a night shift in a factory, and the machines broke down, there was FA to do. It was cold, miserable, and I was tired … I snuck out and buggered off home.

i haven’t read the whole thread but I started in a company with 13 in my location. I left 9 maths later as the longest serving member of staff. Director, Associate Director, Admin staff all changed over before I left.

Rounddog · 26/08/2022 21:47

9 months

CandyLeBonBon · 26/08/2022 21:49

1 shift. It was with McDonald's.

I was 15.

It traumatised me

GG1986 · 26/08/2022 21:49

3 hours! For a window company. And 3 days in another job, the boss was a twat. I was young though and living at home, no mortgage to pay etc if you aren't happy, get a new job.

HouseofArchitect · 26/08/2022 21:51

I was recently employed by the most horrid architectural business in the UK and lasted for 4 weeks 😳

Life is too damp short

Ragwort · 26/08/2022 21:54

I did a temping job for one day and never went back ... it was so badly structured, I had absolutely no idea what I was meant to be doing and no one could properly explain it to me. It was something to do with recruitment and it seemed as though I was meant to go through the CVs and decide who should be put forward for an interview. I had actually previously worked in HR but this was quite shocking in that a brand new temp was given this role to do. I remember in the end I just stared at the computer screen and pressed a few buttons, pretending to work.

Mary46 · 26/08/2022 22:00

Yes find with temping you can get crappy stuff.. op I lasted around 11 weeks. It was alot more accounts and till cashup. They got rid me after xmas. I was v upset think it was more the humiliation of it. Dealing with committees like the mafia lol.. I deleted off cv no point awkward questions about it. That was worst. A sports place

Justcallmebebes · 26/08/2022 22:04

Chelsea Girl back in the 80's. 2 weeks. Waited til payday on 2nd week and never returned from my lunch break and never looked back. Floor manager was a micro managing, power hungry lunatic

CandyLeBonBon · 26/08/2022 22:06

Most recently was 3 months. Manager was a gaslighting micromanager and I knew within 4 weeks it was a rum deal.
