GCSE Results Day - what do people have planned to do with their DC's after their results?

My DD does not have many friends (she is on the autistic spectrum) so I really want to make sure we do something nice tomorrow after she gets her results - her older brother around to do something with her too - any suggestions? TIA

What are your DDs favourite things to do?

Luxy · 24/08/2022 21:44

Out for lunch, cinema or shopping for clothes/stationery for sixth form or whatever is next for her.
My son wants a takeaway for dinner and then a family game night.
I think just making a bit of a fuss and letting her know that you are trying to make it special. Good luck and hope you all have a lovely day.

Just a meal with immediate family.

mondaytosunday · 24/08/2022 21:49

I don't think we did anything. We had just spent eight weeks in various airbnbs as we sold our house before we bought, and I think going back for the results was a bit weird as she hadn't seen anyone since prom. Funnily enough they didn't tell each other what they got. I must have done a dinner or something.
Next summer after A levels we head to Spain!

DD is having a few friends around. Some cheap pizza and mocktails. (Friends helping out with food as we can't afford much).
Family bbq at weekend, but it's my birthday so a double celebration, although will be focusing on DD.

Our DD also (ASD) has requested a favourite meal. All the best today. I'm hoping mine has passed some!

Dd going in first thing this morning to collect results then we will have breakfast. I’ve bought pastries fruit juice etc just to make it feel a bit special.

Middledazedted · 25/08/2022 07:19

Mine is out with friends for lunch and I will make a cake for tea tonight. He loves cake! It’s a relaxed day here.

Nothing.
She is treating it as no big deal, so I am following her lead 😁

ditavonteesed · 25/08/2022 07:23

We are having a takeaway of her choice, going to see grandma and probably watch a film of her choosing.

Last weeks a levels involved takeaways for all three meals of the day, nails and then clubbing (which I definitely didn't attend).

Are results out yet. I have been through this before with grown up sons. Now waiting for news re favourite niece. She is expected to do very well which puts an awful lot of pressure on her.

Wider family is very excited too.

toomanychickens · 25/08/2022 07:30

My dd (also ASD) is very anxious - she's put so much pressure on herself. Her plans are vague. She has a small group of friends and I think she might be doing something with them.

MsTSwift · 25/08/2022 07:33

Darent make plans if she goes off with pals great if not brunch at local lovely cafe

mummymayhem18 · 25/08/2022 07:48

@urgen at my daughters school they can pick them up between 9.30-2pm 😬

TattiePants · 25/08/2022 09:00

@urgen results were available for release at 8am but schools have their own arrangements. We’re nervously waiting till 10!
