Anyone dreading the gcse results tomorrow?

Dd has her gcse results tomorrow and I'm dreading it. She did no revision and came out of each exam saying it was fine. She has a place at college if she gets 5 passes. I'm worried she won't. Then what happens? Can she resit them all again?

I just wanted to offer some hope for those who may not have done well. DD2 did very badly with her GCSEs - exams just don’t suit her. We had to really push college to still accept her onto the level 3 course with less than 5 GCSEs and needing to retake English. Luckily they did eventually let her do it and she got straight Distinction-Stars (and passed English). She then got her ideal job and was promoted within 6 months. Very best of luck to all.

Well done to your daughter!

Yes, whatever happens, it's not the end of the road just a different one.

DS did pretty well in the end. An 8, a 7, fours 6s and a 5. He got a 2 in French unfortunately but everything else was good. He got a merit in his Btec.
I hope everyone else has had good news.

Dd got 7s and 6s which is amazing given the no revision going on. V pleased and off to college to study what she wants.

Yep, after all that, she got what she wanted and is into 6th form. Phew!

Ds did better than expected in most subjects, got the grades he needed to study 2 out of his 3 a level choices, just trying to persuade the college to give a chance on the final subject.

DS got what he wanted to get into sixth form and even passed German which is the major shock!

spongedog · 25/08/2022 16:55

Absolutely wonderful day - DC got 7 1/2 passes, including English and maths. So they are off to their college course and thrilled at not having to do (much) more English and maths. I cried a lot!

Not stellar here but enough to get into 6th form and do most of the chosen subjects here, thankfully.

Sadly my dd didn’t make the criteria for her current school which she has attended since a young age She is upset but luckily we do have a plan B but still absorbing it .
I think a change will be good for her hopefully 🙏

My daughter got 1x5,2 x6,4x7,2x8 and 1x9 - is very happy as got accepted at her chosen place for alevels.
Very proud of her but wow it was stressful, we had a few fallouts as I wasn't allowed to ask her if she'd been revising or anything to do with it as apparently, asking and showing an interest demotivates her?! So the rows we did have was because I was casually trying to ask or take an interest in her, so I wasn't sure if she'd revised or spent hours and hours on her phone or not 🤣

My daughter said exactly the same about asking her and showing an interest being demotivating!

Apparently, it make her feel she was doing it because I'd told her to and not because she wanted to.

I do get that but when she was sitting chatting with her friends and watching TikTok videos, it was hard to sit by and say nothing...

Congratulations on her success!
And now it starts all over again...

@GreyCarpet well it's nice to hear I wasn't the only one. That's exactly how I felt.
